The girl working at the dealer really went to bat for me with TeleAid.
I owe her a giant THANK YOU for the 2 or 3 hours she spent on the phone with them trying to convince TeleAid to locate my car for me.
However TeleAid still never agreed to tell me where my car is.
They tried to tell me that they can only tell the police where it is, and the police don't care where it is because according to them it is not stolen.
I contacted my lawyer about this as well, up to this point he has not replied other than to say he will look into it. I assume that means he is also unsure what to do.

I wish I had better news, but if anyone has a friend working at Teleaid, please put in a good word for me.

Yup, TeleAid at this point, can.... You know what I want to say.

But after spending the 1.5-2.0 hours on the phone with them, while at work, I would NOT purchase TeleAid on my vehicle.... This is my own opinion of course.

What police agency have you been dealing with?
You stated that TeleAid can only tell the police. Do you know what TeleAid requires from the police department when they talk to the officer?
PM sent

K5Cruiser, I think this a great idea.
I suspect TeleAid can tell any police officer the location of my car.
If any Police officers feel like lending a helping hand, please contact
Andy Fassler at 408-313-1853
andy@memorydealers.com

He has all the TeleAid info, as well as the pinkslip, Keys etc.

All I need to know is physically where my car is.

Good luck with this. Those TeleAid bastards are something else...if you are the legal owner you have every right to know where your own car is.

Something clearly is wrong here. Cal Penal Code sec. 484 says,

484. (a) Every person who shall feloniously steal, take, carry,
lead, or drive away the personal property of another, or who
shall fraudulently appropriate property which has been entrusted
to him or her, or who shall knowingly and designedly, by any
false or fraudulent representation or pretense, defraud any
other person of money, labor or real or personal property, or
who causes or procures others to report falsely of his or her
wealth or mercantile character and by thus imposing upon any
person, obtains credit and thereby fraudulently gets or
obtains possession of money, or property or obtains the labor
or service of another, is guilty of theft.

Your car *has* been stolen. You need to get your lawyer involved with the appropriate prosecutor's office.

Also, other things in this story bother me. Was this car subject to a lien? If so, did you report it stolen to the lender? I think they would be strongly in support of your claim the car was stolen since it is their security for repayment. Did you report the car stolen to your ins carrier? They would surely help find it (ie, pressure police/Teleaid/MBUSA to supply location info) or have to pay you (and/or your lender)

Maybe I'm missing some facts here since I can't see how these interested parties would just shrug this off.

Rogerv, I asked my old man to take a look, and the car is still registered to you, atleast according to DMV records available to states other then CA. So i'm not sure where you got the info that it was registered to someone else now. Hope it helps.

he looked up the holder of title. I had him do this twice and on the second time he let me see the print out (which he could not legally give to me). You are the holder of the title. I saw your name on the print out along with your address and the vin #'s matched. I asked him if anything looked suspicious, if he could flag anything and if he was familiar with car fax. He said "no" to everything and as far as he could tell nothing looked out of the norm ....

According to the CA DMV, the car has not changed owners. It is still in my name. Does anyone have any idea why carfax would be reporting something different?

So if the car is still in my name with the DMV, and I still have the pinkslip etc etc, does anyone have any ideas on how I can physically locate the car? Are there any Telleaid employees on this board who can help me out?
Ericurs4, I think he knows that already
