raiyu- If you have any questions about evo's, let me know. I have had three 03, 05, and 06. All were modded at various stages. I have tons of insight if you need some help. I can tell you what to watch out for, etc.... I held the fastest stock 16G EVO IX for awhile. They are a blast if modded correctly.

raiyu- The evo IX is by far the best bet and the BR(Buschur Racing) mods are excellent mods. My IX with just BR intake, ecu flash(Dynoflash), and BR exhaust went 11.56@118 on pump gas mixed with 1 gallon of 100 race gas. The mod cost to get a IX into the 11's is $1700. Just start saving for a clutch

I've been away in Pittsburgh all weekend which is why I've been away from the thread, but Im back.

Im basically looking for a DD for about 8-10 months until my permanent car situation resolves itself.

Im looking to spend around $30K, maybe a bit more if Im head over heels about the car.

Unfortunately I know 0 about Evos, so Im not going to pretend that I do. My previous car was an M3 so Im looking for a bit more performance and something that is as comfortable every day as that car was (2 years and 50K miles).

I think from what I've learned so far because resale is important to me Im going to stay away from super modded evos because those are always a bit harder to sell, mods that are smaller or done completely by a tuner such as the Buschur car I think are my best bet.

So if anyone wants to chime in please do.

I intend to sell the car this winter and I would hope to lose only about $5K in resale value over the course of 8 months and maybe 15-20K miles. Is this reasonable?

If you really want to run 10s u need an engine job. and If u want to run down some really fast modded cars u need a bit more... thats why I decided to stay away from making my car look like a real ricer and put all the cash into the tuning.
Not too many guys can take the evo to the store and at the same time race against a 1000 HP Viper on the street.
The only thing that gives me away is this

Im not big on visuals and I wouldnt mod the exterior, I mean its aggresive enough stock, a lower stance and I think it's all set.

Mark: your car is great, but I think it's a bit too much for me without having a tuner locally that I would work with. I dont doubt that its a great DD, but I think its a bit too over the top for me.

You can easily purchase a brand new 06 non-MR at the dealer for around $30. You get the warranty and mod it to your own liking.
