Well, first you have to remove years 1999-2002 as those are old body styles. This drops the # available by 3,957.

Then compare apples to apples. Chances are someone shopping for a 2006 AMG wants a relatively low mile car. They will also want a car with minimal bugs. This completely drops out the 2003 model and one could argue it also drops out the 2004 model. This leaves us with only 3,401 viable contenders against a 2006 CLS55.

Then one could argue the lower level of utility of the CLS against the E55 and that's before you bring in the superior performance of the E55 (weighs 200# less).

I'm not saying the CLS is a bad car, nor am I trying to hijack the thread. I just don't see why the E55 drops like a rock but the CLS supposedly holds value.

Hey Alvin,

I do love your CLS but its still out of my price range... and I might have to trade my Viper to get it. Maybe in a couple months when the stock market gets better, we can talk more...

In the meantime, gl w/sale!

Are you talking to me or the OP?

Thats a lot of money for an E30 M3 - but at the same time you won't find many owners who are willing to sell them

The cars I've seen go for that much are impeccable low-mileage all-original examples, or highly-prepped track cars. Typically you will find them in the $15-$20k range for a worthy example, more depending on the engine or other modifications. Any less than $15k and you will be spending money to make it right.
