Getting rid of wheel hop ?
I did some searching and found a bunch of old threads about wheel hop. I did not find any products though.

Do motor and trans mounts hlep reducing hop?
What about bushings?

My car is currently RWD and it still hops ALOT on launch.

I know going down to 18s would help but I am running 295/30/19 PS2s, but really don't want to go down to 18s

Any help is appreciated

Wheel hop is a product of high spring pressure.
So I've just said an incredibly false thing...sorry.....



BTW, can you say something more about this relationship between spring pressure and wheel hop? Thanks.

These cars, w/ their rear engine, especially if you are rwdrive get wheel hop if you try and launch them hard.

I never do a hard launch because you can and will break axles. There are some on here who are pretty accomplished at drag racing their cars, but I won't take the risk.

Do engine mounts help? In my MKV, the dogbone mount got rid of 80% of wheel hop and coilovers basically eliminated the rest..

What is the best way to launch it then?

bump! I have the same problem now after switching to RWD, I am considering new engine mounts, anybody ?

I switched to pss9, and different tires and can't say I've had wheel hop in a long time. I'm not launching the car but during track events and other situations the back will certainly slide and loose traction without hop. There were a few threads on this and think the answer was in suspension. But as others said ease out of first then nail it to save your drive shafts.

Wanderer is infamous around these parts
On the cayman there have been two ways that have been found to get rid of wheel hop.

1. semi-solid trans mounts - there will be some increase in NVH
2. solid bushing in the lower control arms

I did the urethane trans and Engine mounts. I also did the RSS solid bushings in the control arms that off set them further back so its gives a longer wheel base. But i also went to 18" rears for the street and 16" for the track so it will have a better sidewall at 27.5"

Does it work i wont know just yet but will keep you informed.
