Got my Viper SmartStart VSM200 module set up last night. Very neat.

 

Can you post up reviews to the Viper after a few days/weeks of use?
I am interested in getting one and was wondering how the range etc on it is.
The shop was saying you can be ANYWHERE and you will get a text saying that it is going off or something?
What else is it able to do that other pager alarms can't do?

Well I've had the Viper 5902 alarm/remote start for a while now. The range is pretty long with just the remote it self.

Just now I added the Viper VSM200 module which is the add-on SmartStart module. You can in fact open it/start it from ANYWHERE. There is a 15-30 second wait for it to complete the operation since it is going over cell phone towers. If a sensor is triggered it will send you a text message.

Autopage also has a very nice system out. Given the complexity of doing an alarm on the Porsche we went with a DEI product (Viper) since my friend that installed it is only used to working with DEI products.

 

So if you are standing by it and want to use your phone to lock/unlock it, it will take 15-30 seconds for it to do what you tapped on your phone?

The main reason for iPhone adaptablity is so that if the car is touched/messed with you will get a text no matter where you are right?

So when you are actually locking unlocking the car you probably still use your key fob?

Can you remote start it from anywhere also?

 

When you use your phone it doesnt matter where you are it, still goes over cell towers. It takes 15-30 seconds to compelete a command using a phone. I still use the Viper key fob to lock and unlock the car.

The fact that you get a text when the car is messed with is useful. If you are driving to your house/garage and want to warm up the car by the time you get there you can use the smartstart from the phone, or if you just want to do it from inside of your home - its more convenient since most people always have their phones on them now-a-days.

Does your alarm allow you to program a turbo timer ? What decklid is that? Looks really good!!

 

Yes I can have a turbo timer with this Alarm, most high end alarms will let you have one.
