Beware when all men speak highly of something!
but then again, I never was the kind of guy to follow trends.
all part of that " take a chance and jump off the cliff" thing I was
talking about. You win some, you lose some. Either way at least
you made a move.
Gregg at Tial told me about the 3073s. I have a feeling they're gonna
gain in popularity over the next year

ok. i'll be back in the broken wiper thread. if anyone asks

go with the 04 - 05
You def have to go rwd as well.
You could opt for that instead of the other upgrades you were considering.
Mark, for your needs..........PERFECT!
There's a fellow who designed aero components for Porsche racing in
the 70s. Now he restores early 911s and has an ebay store. 8200 rpms
He has been involved in a few of these 996TT trans swaps. He said it
transforms the car and it's like getting shot out of a cannon lol!

1-3 already steel? I forget. 1-2 def steel stock.
There's an infinite choice of gearing. We wanna
nail it the first time. The 04 - 05 gt3 trans (G96)
would be perfect plug and play for your setup.
Not so much for 800+ hp.
You have to do rwd conversion on the gt3 trans.
We're gathering info on what would work best
relative to estimated power levels.

Come on Tim, everyone knows a n/a gear ratio helps load up the turbos..
#234
LOL thats what I have been doing wrong?
#235
#236
Just for the record you can put a turbo ring and pinion in the gt2/3 trans....

Roger is the guru.

It's okay. Tim has a rare and horrific disorder. He is still evolving. Tims
unfortunate genetic disease has left him in the " Homo ergaster" stage of
evolutionary development. One need only to view his youtube videos to
witness his hideous predicament. I'm certain, much of his time is spent
in various painful hair removal sessions. His knuckles drag the ground as
well and that has a whole other set of issues he has to contend with.
And cut him some slack, he also has to live with the fact that he drove
a tuning business into the ground and that he failed miserably. So if
playing the hot shot Porsche guy with the 1200 hp dyno queen gives him
a little comfort, in his otherwise grim existence.....well, it's ok
Back to the topic.
Albins has a few options. With my setup, there's only 2 gears that
need modifying.
With your setup, you can do a full GT3 swap as long as it's an '04 and up
trans. I'll shoot you the guys info if you want to talk to him about the
particulars. Obviously you don't wanna do a GT3 setup with a high
horsepower car but with a milder setup its good to go.

Like Scott said, this forum is for information... Correct information.. Every time I see misinformation I say something to correct it. So lets correct you on your knowledge of trans that you spent one week (if that much) time researching. You can go further and do your homework about the shop I was partners in. I am not at the liberty to talk about it, but you are higher then I on the evolutionary scale so I will let you figure that out..
