This might be what is being referenced by Mark. For the record, you also said that it is not recommended for high HP Porsches...which seems to be what you are building now?
On page 16 I was speaking to Mark about his car. I was clear that not

in a 800 hp or any high hp Porsche in post # 226. And continued in post

#231 speaking to Mark about his car.

The only thing that we're considering are gear sets. Albins most likely.

And yes, it was in between insults aimed at Tim. What you failed to

mention is that he entered the conversation in post 232 with a couple

of insults of his own. I didn't mention him up until this point and he

didn't enter the conversation with an air of helpfulness. He came in

swinging. I dropped the markski thing and the exhaust a while back.

"In between insulting Tim" lol

If you are still "confused" just go back and read what I've referenced.

See if you find a post that stated, implied or otherwise insinuated that

I was going to swap out my trans for a GT3 unit.

Also, tell me where I attacked Tim unprovoked.

Just give me the post #s and I'll again, admit fault.

Ok..the way I read it, and I think everyone else too, was that you were gonna use the GT3 trans and change the gears sets in that...No biggie..just trying to keep the facts straight...

Copy/ pasted POST 230:

Back to the topic.

Albins has a few options. With my setup, there's only 2 gears that

need modifying.

With your setup, you can do a full GT3 swap as long as it's an '04 and up

trans. I'll shoot you the guys info if you want to talk to him about the

particulars. Obviously you don't wanna do a GT3 setup with a high

horsepower car but with a milder setup its good to go.

LOl I'm sure! I'm not a chat board guy. I don't have a lot of

extra time on my hands and I'd rather be out experiencing

life anyways.

My 15 year old son pointed out the tactics of the chat board

ninjas. Popping in a thread and distorting things. Next step

leaves the person on the defensive and the accusing party

doesn't answer any post pointing out the facts and logic.

Later the ninja pops back in with a new twist on their

accusations, again ignoring logic etc...

lol my kids know this stuff and they're teaching me

Mark, if what you got aint broke, don't fix it!

Sounds like you got the right setup for your driving

style.

i'm sure you're right.. just i have no style. we met a guy w a 996 gt3 yesterday, and though he wasn't part of the runup the hill, i asked about a future comparison we might make. esp, given that at least on paper, his car would be the more suitable choice for a fast uphill run.. and yet! these lil turbos have plenty of instant on for this stuff. can a LIGHTER tt rally as well as a gt3?.. whatever.

randy lol. its not that im jumping in and out its that i dont care to participate in a lenghty arguement about something you are not well versed about such as porsche transmissions. i just thought it was funny that you were suggesting gt3 tranny swap to guys with modded turbo cars, at which point i suggested that you try it and let all of us know how that goes

Mark, The gt3 transmission is rated the same strength as the turbo trans.

The shorter gears would pose issues in a high hp turbo. On the other hand,

the gt3 tranny would be fine in a stock or mildly modified turbo. It has a

dedicated pump and external oil cooler. After all, the GT3 transmission

is a derivative of the 993 gt2.

Again, I never suggested that anyone with a high hp car swap out to a gt3.

PLEASE REFERENCE THE POST NUMBER WHERE I MENTIONED SWAPPING

A STOCK TRANSMISSION FOR A GT3 TRANSMISSION ON A HIGH HP CAR.

Of course, you can't reference with a post number.

Chat boards operate without the need for facts or even a logically

progressive debate.

Objectively, it's interesting that you can continue asserting a position

without a sliver of evidence to back up your words!

Actually, I sited 2 previous post that fly in the face of your line of

argument lol. You just ignore the factual stuff and stick to your

story. I'm a little older and I run a business and I have to manage

lots of people and I don't understand liberals and internet pros. I

Guess this is acceptable.

Being wrong isn't the end of the world. On average, it's how we grow and

learn. I've noticed that you are never wrong lol. Curious that just a couple

or so years ago you were new to Porsche and asking questions about

how to perform a 60-130 run. You've owned 1 Porsche for a few years and

now you seem to have a knowledge usually reserved for guys that've

been in the game for a decade or more.

Okay.

i think you merely suggested that someone like me with a mildly modded turbo might benefit from a gt3 transmission. there will be no victory in any of this for anyone, but if there is? it will be pyrrhic.

Okay.
Good observation. I have owned my Porsche for 3.5 years and have done and learned more in that time period then most do in a lifetime of owning porsches.... And that is a fact. When I was a noob I didn't preach tranny swaps to others.... LOL. Are you sure a Gt3 box is just as strong? Tooth count? Ratios matching power band? Do you know how 996 tranny moves oil? Have u ever worked on a 996 tranny? Watch my 1/4 mile video and pay attention to the transmission, stop spreading misinformation and post something useful for once beside your never ending drama.

Funny that you come at me with your nooblet theories when I had my car for less then a year before Tim and I got into it, I built a 700whp setup in my driveway in a matter of days with my own hands.... And it didn't blow up like yours. Go figure.

Now there you go with those big words and I gotta break out the websters!

I'm just astounded at the culture of the internet message boards!

Can't help but wonder what effect it'll have on socializing.

Yeah why not. I posted when I blew up 3rd gear, I posted about my stock rods that weren't 100% straight when they came out. Gladly I decided to upgrade when I did.
