The x design was perfectly fine for the a28s.
650 whp.
I never disagreed with you about the X being the way
to go on a setup like you have.
But if we were in the business of selling exhaust, our
biggest slice of the pie would come from guys who make
500 - 650 at the wheels and most of those guys are looking
for a balance of sound, DD livability and power.
If you had a business that only catered to 800+ hp Porsche
guys............You wouldn't stay ver busy lol

or is all that more internet lore?? ( i'm fresh out of popcorn, be nice ha )
add: scratch that. ( didn't realize you guys are probably talking about 3.8 builds... and the dog keeps using my login when i'm outside. i gotta say he's captured my style )

Lol The X gotta go in favor of straight pipes

Soon I will be owing a back to back dyno test against an X pipe.

isn't an *800* ( #'s again sheesh ) hp porche 650 +/- to the wheels and isn't 550/600 to the crank MAX the best place these cars like to live without strengthening ( for fear of blowing up ) stock internals?

650 awhp is about 760 crank
Unless you're an unscrupulous tuner. Then you add 100 hp or whatever you
need to market the package
You can go pretty high hp on stock block but you gotta be careful with
that low end torque, it's a killer
Ideally, my opinion? 500-600 whp for the track or canyons with
a broad power band and adequate low end torque.
Most peeps can't get 90% of the potential of the stock 414 hp on a track
or the twisty. 500+ is serious track hp

but i'm geting it, thanks. i have no experience with conditions or driving that would require or even justify 800/1000 hp porsche turbo's. though no disrespect to the guys that setup for that. i am genuinely curious about porsches that drag race/trap etc but for me, it's more of an anomaly, though they are obviously quite capable in that regard and application. i mean, i have seen the wheelies.
but i think you know, my preference ( not knowing firsthand any difference.. ) is driving between 35 and ** mph in sweepers. ya know. unpopulated canyons. though i wouldn't mind a 3.8 and if that meant a bit more hp and a tougher internal build? so be it.

The Fab should flow pretty good John. People I have sold it to like it.

well, that would just be their own personal limitation though..

know that you and I are like minded about Porsche. I did 2 DE courses
at Road Atlanta in '94 and '95. I like to drive these damn cars and I've
had as much fun in my 300 hp 944 turbo as I've ever had in my crazy
alpha 28 911TT!
I'm gonna give the big hp setup a shot. I've got some ideas that fall
a little off the beaten path and we're going to try 'em and see what
happens. Afterwards, I'll detune around the 700 hp level for a DD.
The only reason you'd ever need a 1000 hp on a road course would
be something related to IMSA and you'd be racing for the factory or
at least a factory customer car.
And yes Mark, I know you can drive lol! I had a genius on the 60-130
thread who said that I didn't know how to drive because I don't know
how to drive the 1/4 mile.........in my Porsche He was serious!!!
I didn't respond. How does one respond to that?

your turbos the same. It would give you a solid bump in torque across
the powerband and you'd really feel it in the lower end. Absolutely The
best upgrade for your flavor of driving. Add some bigger Ics, Y pipe
and turbo inlets and whamo! You would spool even quicker and the low
end torque wouldn't effect traction. Wider torque band and lightning fast
throttle response. Perfect for the track and winding roads.
The 3.8 conversion is a tad on the pricey side though.

well, if and when i ever blow this sh*t up. i would do it, without hesitation. gotta be cheaper than a new gt2/3rs i think though given the mileage on my motor.. i'm gonna wring whatever life she still has in 'er 3.6 innards .. and i still probably won't outlast this 'ol mezger. but i sure would like to hear of yours when it's done.
