It does fit, I have one in my 996tt. You have to take the seat cushions out.

Also had the same one in my 997tt and it fit fine with cushion. I actually removed the cushions just to protect them but it fits fine.

July 24 2013. I attached a pic of the certificate. I believe child seats have 6 year recommendation.
