The CAI fits model year 1999-2005 996 C2's.

I installed it myself. No need for machanic. I also have the original instruction sheet and all original hardware. It took me 30 mins at most.

My main concern is the installation process. I've read several post that install on these units is difficult. Any advise you might add to ease the installation would be appreciated. Thanks

I just followed the direction as illustrated in the installation sheet. You do need a drill to make just one small hole during the install process, so a decent drill will be helpful. It's a simple DYI procedure. I am a kind of guy that brings my car to the shop for most everything, but I was able to handle this myself. Hope this helps.

I believe this 996 one will also fit the NA 997.1 cars. Make sure you get the MAF installed in the correct orientation when moving it from your stock airbox to the K&N. Also, don't over-tighten the clamp for the filter as the hose the filter slides onto is plastic and if over-tight, with the heat from the engine compartment, you'll distort the pipe.
