This is a custom sub box built by Ai Design aidesign.com for 996 coupe. The box uses (3) JL Audio 6" subs in a sealed enclosure. The original owner spared no expense on the audio and it shows. The fit and finish is excellent. It looks OEM and fits flush with the top of the rear shelf. The box is curved to match profile of the rear deck perfectly. The bass is very tight and accurate. I replaced the surround on the middle speaker. The surround does not look identical to the others and there is a little glue visible on the face of the cone, but this does not affect performance and is not visible when installed. Brackets are included to secure it the strut bolts, but after removing and reinstalling it during my coilover installation, I never used the brackets. It fit very snug and never moved or squeaked even without the mounting brackets.

It is my understanding that 996 and 997 rear shelves are the same size/shape. I have never installed this in 997, as such cannot guarantee fitment. My current 997 is a cabriolet and is completely different than the coupe. If you intend to install this in a 997, please research this yourself and come to your own conclusion. Again, I believe it will fit, but do not guarantee it.
