Ice,

About 8-10 months ago there was someone who did so on a 2005. Go back into these threads and I am sure you can find it.

He reported tremendous gains but needed a transmission software update to smooth the shifting.

If I remember he said it was a definite rocket ship!

I did my 05' last year with the GIAC chip. I can't say that I am 100% satisfied with the overall result. It definitely perked up the acceleration of the vehicle, but as mentioned above, there are issues with the transmission. I was told by both the installer and the dealer that it would take time for the transmission to "learn" the shifting habits with the new power ranges. I've put on more than 10K miles since and it still has shifting issues. Resolving this issue, if there is a fix, has been my fault due to my schedule. My business has been running ***** to the walls for nearly 14 months straight and I have just not taken the time to deal with it.

The problem that I am experiensing is that at the point of quick acceleration at the low end, the moment you back off the throttle in the slightest manner the car kind of thunks up to the next gear and one can sense that turbo's lagging with power. however, if you punch the throttle right from the line and hold it there it runs like the devil, and far better than the factory settings.

If I were you, I would buy it on the basis of them insuring that you don't encounter the same problems. Since the whole installation revolves around the portable unit that can quickly change your settings, if you decide that it's not working 100%, they can simply download the settings and put you back to stock.

Oh, one other thing I noticed was that the car gained a nice powerful growl to it. Nothing brash or hot roddish, but it definitely lets everyone know it means business. No need now for an expensive exhaust upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ernie,

We have had the software available for the better part of 4 years, and do keep in contact with quite a few of our local customers. This is the first report of shifting issues that we have heard of to date. Feel free to contact me regarding your issue. In the meantime, I will take a sample of our existing customers to assess whether or not this is an isolated issue.

For the OP, in case you haven't seen them, here are some videos we put together of the 2008s we had in-house for testing recently:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba3tVdmVPQw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5-Ks8SJdOM

GIAC is currently the only performance software company in the world with switchable software for the 2008 models (to our knowledge, the only with working software!).

Sezme,

We are an authorized G.I.A.C. dealer that has flashed multiple Bentleys. The process takes 90 minutes. We are also located no more then 2 hours from anywhere in New Jersey. Willow Grove, PA is located 20 minutes north of center city Philadelphia.

Please email me if you would like to discuss further.

mike@awe-tuning.com

I can attest that if done correctly the software is smooth and powerful. We also have a Mustang Chassis Dyno in house. If you want us to do a before/after session to see the gains, we can gladly acoomodate.

Thanks!

Mike,

Thanks for your reply and PM. I'm interested in the *flash* and would also like to explore the possibility of doing some exhaust work to make it sound a tiny more aggressive.

I'm at sezme@aol.com

Stu,

The last GT we did for a guy said he wanted it a bit louder. I told him before he spend the money on exhaust, let me just disconnedt the flapper valve on the stock mufflers. This will make it loud all of the time.

After a few day of driving he said that it's just the noise he was looking for.

We can do that for you. If you want more, then we talk about the exhaust....

Sound good?

Anyone want to tell me how to disconnect the exhaust valves? I assume it is just a vacuum line. Is it 1, or 2 lines?

I did it on my Challenge Stradale - and it sounds great. On the Ferrari, it was as simple as pulling vacuum hoses and plugging them...

Same.

There is a plastic cover under the very rear of the car covering the mufflers. The vacuum cannisters are not hard to miss. Just pull off the line and plug. Voila!

Thanks! Rubber hose?

Whats it going to cost to flash my car with a fairly basic program? Never gonna use 103.

Yup, little rubber hose. Probably about 3mm.

I will email you a quote for the work.
