I have an 2007 GTC & when I started the up I noticed an extremly strong gas smell coming from the exhaust.. I decided to take the car around the block to see how it was running & the car had no pick up what so ever & changed gear hard.. the car also was idling low & a little rough.. Does anybody have an idea what could possibly be wrong? I had my annual 4 year service done recently so the spark plugs are new..

 

Could be bad coils or ??? Take it back to the dealer (have it flat bedded of course).

 

Thats what I was thinking that is was ignition coils if Im not mistaken there was a recall on VW ignition coils im hoping thats all it is.

 

Yes, there was a recall on the coils and that was done on the car here this spring as a check engine light was on.

 

Did the cars exhaust smell like gasoline the car lost power & was idling low?

 

Don't know, was done just before the car arrived here this spring as she was used. Looking at the service records the check engine light was on and they changed the coil. Just take it to the Bentley dealer for service via flatbed is your best bet. Yet judging by the symptoms you are describing, sounds like bad coil(s) or spark plugs could be the cause. The dealer will know for sure and fix it.
