Ahhh yes, the Sony's infamous center spindle stuck CD situation. If that is indeed the problem... Odds are the glue holding the damper on the top spindle of the CD mechanism has spread, thus 'sticking' the CD to the top center spindle (read: stuck CD). Easy to solve usually, just open the CD box/transport mechanism and unstick the top. Once unstuck, remove the glue from the now freed CD's center. Also check and carefully remove any possible sticky substance on the top spindle of the disc transport.

Of course i could be 100% wrong, maybe the eject motor died or ???

Well that's a place for me to start the fix, thanks.

I was considering the old pry open with metal bar technique.

Why bother with the hassle of using the old pry open with metal bar technique? This is great for that plus, as an added bonus, can be wonderful when fishing in small streams or bodies of water. Also works well in mailboxes too! They are fun for the whole family

Ah yes Steven a much more "high-brow" solution.

So if I buy that, it'll update the maps on my 06 GTC ? Would I need to do a firmware update too ? How much are those 10 CDs at the dealer ?

Last i checked, around $200 at a BMW dealer for the set of CDs. You do not need a firmware update as the discs only hold 'gps data' and not programming.

Lost all text on iPhone!

Found a shop that can install reverse cam on a 07 spec car (that's impressive as u know) and touchscreen overlay GPS but at 1.4k and 830 bucks!

Thinking....few pics from the shop.

Smile 2008 cfs

Called US Bentley dealer to day to inquire about NAV DVD for my 08 CFS. They told me there is a DVD, part number 3W0919859. The price...

Please sit down.................. and take a deep breat........
$710.00

Granted it has Canada, US, Blah, Blah, Blah.. There has got to be a better deal. I know us guys driving these types of vehicles are supposed to care less about price. But for me if I am giving money away, I would much rather do so for childern, charity, and other people who will really benifit from it. Otherwise, I worked hard for it, to just give it away with no real value add. iPhone works great as Nav unit...

Monty, there is a recent firmware update to the NAV software? Dated ???? How can we verify that the update was done within our cars and, better still, you got any copies of that CD

You can check your current SW version in a menue in the navigation system.

I was told there are 2 different updates, only 1 works.
So i bought them both (was not expensive, less than 20 Dollars each).

They are labeled:

VW Phaeton Infotainment Service CD-ROM
Release 136 ZAB /
Navigation
SW0223 / SW0168
3D0919278

and the other one

VW Phaeton Infotainment Service CD-ROM
Release 142 ZAB /
Navigation
SW0253 / SW0188
3D0919278 B

One of them did not work, the other did. Update took about 2 hours (connect battery charger!!!).

And NO, you will not have a VW logo in your display, all will be fine ;-)

If you have some webspace account that i can use, i can upload for you

CDs

I have recently bought the 2013 CD set. I am in Florida and will probably only need the East coast USA discs. The others are for sale at $28 ea including shipping
