summary of Continental GT changes by model year

Glad to hear this thread still comes up in Google and that people are still using it. When I was researching the topic, I couldn't find any good sources of info, be it the official Bentley site, car mags, or online forums... Which is why I started the thread.
I made the change that you recommended. Hard to believe you could get a $150k car in 2004 with no electronic trunk switch. We have come a long way since then!

Also, I believe you got the 2011 wrong. The production for the CGTs were late and there was no official version for 2011. The 2010 carried to 2011 and the NEW CGT was released for 2012.
Another thing. Even calling Bentley Motors won't even give you a straight answer on the changes. Half the time, the representatives weren't aware of the changes in model years.
PS: In my opinion, I don't think there's a point buying a 2004-2005 Continental GT. 2006 comes with the soft close doors, power boot, upgraded key fob design, and push button start (with the old ignition option still there )
PPS: Just remembered. This may be an important feature but it is info. I believe either in 2007 or 2008 the keyfob had a red "Panic" button on the fob. My '06 Flying Spur doesn't have it.

Kevin, you are correct about the 2011/2012 models. When I wrote my original post, the new GT was reportedly going to be a 2011 model. I updated the OP. I believe the new V8 model was also expected to be available in MY 2012, but now they have pushed it back to 2013, so I updated that as well.
I agree with you that the upgrades from 2006 onwards make those models much more appealing. OTOH, you can get 2004 and 2005 models for really low prices... I have seen some for under $70k.
As for my own car purchase... I have decided to put it off for a year, since I just bought a condo, which took up a lot of my spare cash! But I am interested in the RS5, CLS 550 AWD, and the new BMW 650 xDrive, which was never available as AWD until this year. My dream car is a used Gallardo, which you can pick up for around the same price range as a GT... But I think it is too impractical to have as my only car (almost no storage space, I would worry about parking it on the street, etc). So a year from now I may be back in the market for a GT or one of these other cars.

So the carbon ceramic brakes were standard in 08 and only an option in MY 07 on the diamond series? I'm looking at an 06 mulliner and trying to understand what was available when to justify prices. Hopefully Ill age a new b gt owner thread posted soon. Thanks guys

changes from 05
I would like to add to the list of changes in the GT. I have noticed that there are some minor differences between my 05 and later models.
The UV absorbing glass which blocks radar detector operation
The "accept" button which you must press to operate buttons below screen
The addition of metal trim to seat rails, a worthwhile improvement

Are the model changes to GTC similar?
I'm looking for a 2008 or 2009 GTC. I've heard that the 2009 GTC incorporated more updates to that model year than were listed in this thread. Is this true, or were most of the refreshes listed for the 2008 GT also applicable for the 2008 GTC? I'm trying to determine if I should put a higher priority on the 2009, or if both years have negligible differences.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Remember guys, in the States, you are always a year ahead of the rest of the world with model years.
i.e. a UK 2003 GT would have been a 2004 model in the USA and so on. Maybe that would cause some confusion when comparing options/upgrades, etc.
Les.

hello....your annual change accounting is good...you should include the engine detail change somewhere in 2012 or 13 during high gas prices when Bentley went on fuel savings kick...flex-fuel and all that crap....wouldn't touch any of that...
