Maserati Quattroporte or Bentley FS

I am looking to get myself a new daily drive sedan. With prices aside , which is kind of irrelevant for people who are reading this in the US as i am from Singapore.

But i am looking at a 3 year old Flying spur versus a 6 mths old Quattroporte (4.2 auto)

im looking for something reliable , comfort is not my main priority . I would prefer something that handles dynamically and a good feeling to drive overall. An extra attention for pulling up in some places like the clubs would be good too

car will be driven almost everyday probably about 15000-18000 miles a year... so reliability would be a concern too.

any inputs? thanks

Singapore is a lovely country and am familiar with import prices, etc. The choice is really quite easy as you are asking about an Italian car (built by a lower line 'Ferrari' structure) versus a British clothed car that uses a very high-end German mechanical base. Given your criteria, the Bentley is an easy choice for reliability plus externally the Bentley is pure class while the leather, controls and AC/heating vents, etc are far more special than the Maserati. Both will handle dynamically and just be careful about speeding too much and too often because as you know in Singapore they are very good at knowing when one has a habit of going past legal limits.

By the way, one of the best meals i enjoyed in Singapore was at the Four Seasons during their Sunday brunch. Excellent live music and the food variety was outstanding.

Having owned 2 QP's (Sport GT's) and only one Bentley (CGT), I can't really comment on the FS, but the QP is a completely different car to the Bentley, the Bentley lacks the design flair of the maserati, but it has so much more internal character.

I (personally) think that the FS looks clumsy when sitting next to the QP, I still think the lines on a QP are very stylish and striking. but then I think the exterior of my CGT looks a bit clumsy (I'm still warming to it).

Reliability is a poser... I've had 5 maserati's in 5 years, 3 were complete dog's, my worst for reliability was my last QP (hence moving to a bentley) but prior to that my most reliable was my older QP (so you win some you lose some). they tend to suffer from electrical problems (well mine did anyway), however in saying that my bentley had to goto the garage 3 times within weeks or purchase, but since then it's been perfect.

my good QP did 38k miles in about 20 months, all it got was washed and serviced, no issues at all!

now for pose factor....

if you turned upto a club in a CGT then that's one thing, but a FS, people may think you are the driver out with the car for the night! I've had plenty heads turn when arriving in a masser, in fact generally get pointed to the VIP parking!

Power wise, the bentley feels like a much stronger car, the pulling power (acceleration, not ladies) feels much greater than in the maserati, it doesn't seem to ever run out of puff (even at very high speeds).

I'm still warming to the Bentley, me being a hardened maserati fan for several years, but recent reliability issues forced me to change, Bentley was the only option open to me as I'm very fussy! I personally don't like the look of a FS, much prefer Mulsane a, but can't afford / justify one.

your best bet is to go and try both of them for a good while, with he money you will be expecting to fork out, then you should be able to get a good weekend with both cars to help you make up your mind on them!

good luck, (I hope this helps, but I'm still torn between Bentley and maserati)
