Just adding another point for my praise of my particular interior - I like mine so much because it is mainly cream with some dark blue leather, and of course the dark walnut that nicely offsets it all. It is a 'delicate' colour combination, and one I haven't seen about that often.

Most of the other CGTs I've seen have dark upholstery... black or grey... and I have to say I don't like these as much. It still manages to look very classy though.

But it may be I just like the change, as I've had black and grey for many of the cars I've owned over the last few years.

Plastique,

i noticed that using Leatherique has greatly added to the durability of the leather. The raw leather Bentley uses does benefit from a high quality leather care such as their Rejuvenator Oil. It seems to make the leather far more resilient and less likely to be damaged. Just trying to help.

And yes, i agree the interior work of the Bentley is by far the best i have seen in any modern vehicle.

Yeh right. That is some mental gymnastics for sure.

Good timing on your write up. I just read the letters section of the Dec. Auotmobile magazine and many were commenting on the Ezra Dyer column in the previous edition. It was all the woes of buying a used European upscale car. They were crying over excessive repair cost and maintenance.

I like to read Enjoythemusic's posts about his good reliability.

DO the night driving. These are the best high beams of any car I have ever seen. We go on about being able to deer and coon hunt seeing all over he shoulders and way up into the trees.

3K in a year??? I put on 2K in the first month but I have driven it for no other reason than to ride in it. I took it oh one our favorite motorcycle roads on Thanksgiving day with the daughter. Very twisty and hilly. I am sure I left $40 of rubber on the road that day and averaged 11.2mpg. Screw it lets ride.

Given time I will get a ticket or worse. I hit the 150 mark two weeks ago and always itching to fly-er low. I need to be transformed into a old slow geezer.

As to the interior mine is better than yours. Kidding of course. I lso have seen other GTs that did not look as good, to me, as the one I bought. Mine is tan leather with a curly maple wood ,some black leather in a black convertable. Double hot my friend as is yours.

Loved the post.

I can just hear Steven now, " it's 28 degrees, four inches over ice with worse on the way, screw it let's ride!

I must admit that it is a phrase that Harley Davidson uses I ain't that clever.

I am however all for using it for the Bentley et. al. the four wheel loves of our lives. The cars are in some betters than the wives. The more gas they have the better they ride.

Oh Lord hope I have not offended the sensitive.

I may be wrong here (and mostly am according to my wife, except when I pay for her diamond fetish , but the modern leathers in most cars are protected with a type of clear coat that adds durability to the color and protects the surface. We are rarely sitting on raw hide. Of course, Bentley may be quite different and you may know something I don't.

But in other cases any product that deems to soften the leather actually should be put on our wallets to protect our hard earned cash. Because it is mainly wasted. Rather like the fancy spray-on window cleaners and $200-a-pot waxes. All expensive window dressing with little practicality.

Instead, I have been advised by an expert to do this. Each month I use a damp towel to clean the leather coating, and a product called Colourlock Leather Shield. This has polymers that reduce friction on the leather where the most wear occurs, and reduces wear dramatically.

This will preserve leather seats far better than any 'soaker' kind of leather care product. Not many people know this. I only found out by going to a specialist leather shop, where the Dutch owner told me of his decades of research to get the best product for all the Ferraris and Astons he deals with.

And I sit at his feet.

Bet they were moaning about the Range Rover. Despite having the worst reliability reputation from JD Power, I foolishly still lust for one. All English cars seem to have their foibles... just depends how much you're prepared to put up with them.

But what I like about the CGT is that they finish the car even where you won't ever see it. I read somewhere that the quality BEHIND the glove box is immaculately turned out. I love that kind of dedication.

150 with the top up didn't even seem that fast, and the wife never said a word. Quality ride for sure. Still funnnnnnnnnnnn.

Bentley leather does not appear to have those plastic coating finishes I see on most cars. I used some Meguirs stuff one time but was scared to death. I do not want to darken the color or streak the leather.

I pray I have as good a one year report.

Went to a gas station garage to buy high octane fuel and it happens to be in Rancho Santa Fe, one of the most affluent zip codes in the country. They work on several brands of high end cars and the mechanic mentioned that Bently's and Porsches are the only high end cars that only come in for oil changes. All the other nice brands (Lambo, Aston, BMW, MB, maserati, Ferrari) are always breaking down and making a lot of money for this garage.
I test drove a 10'speed and a 12'CGT back to back. The new one ruined the slightly used one for me as it is that much better. They are great cars and I will probably own one in the future, but was not blown away to the point of wanting to trade my CTT for either one.

You won't see it - it's not like the plastic cover you throw over your lounge suite

I had a lot of niggles with my Vanquish - nothing major, but things you wouldn't expect like the driver's seat not working. I only had it for a year, and didn't even bother to write an owner's review because of my overall disappointment with the ride and driveability.

I'm really looking forward to driving a '12 CGT, but we don't get many in our part of the land. Reviews say they have improved on all the parts we owners griped about, and that's got to be a good thing. We don't want a Concord... the same perfect model year after year without any upgrades.

Ken,

Thanks for the tip, will look up the Colourlock Leather Shield Leatherique is not expensive really and i know the vintage Rolls Royce and other use it to restore/maintain leather.

The leather is very 'raw' in the Bentley. As i recall in the Bentley Ultimate Factories video the factory makes a point about people missing the old ways of how leather in a car was dyed, smells, etc. and thus Bentley follows the old ways. i know the 'hidden coating' you are referring to, and the leather in the '06 CGT does not seem to have that coating. It is very raw other than the dye. As such, it needs more care per se to keep properly moisturized for those of us in dry climates.

Thanks. I'll tuck that knowledge away for posterity. Hope you can find the Leather Shield - you can actually feel it acting slightly slippery, but it doesn't put a shine at all on the seat. Very clever.
