Bathing the Bentley with de-ionized water
Has anyone tried using a system like the CR Spotless Water Deionization System?
Vendor claims:
One wash using de-ionized water from the CR spotless and you will instantly wonder how you ever washed your car with normal water again. Not only will it not spot as you rinse your paint, wheels, and windows, but the de-ionized water also generates significantly more suds from the same amount of soap. The unit is portable and convenient, and the resin for the tanks is refillable. All CR Spotless units come with a particle meter so you always know that your water is coming out spot free.

I have not thought about it. Now you have ruined my ignorance and I am going to have to worry about another thing.
I use well water I really have no idea of what is in there. I just hurry like a maniac to get the car dried off with microfibers or leather. I am going to use a detailer or wax anyways.

"Well water typically contains more minerals in solution than surface water and may require treatment to soften the water by removing minerals such as arsenic, iron and manganese."

Another tidbit from CR Spotless FAQ"
Will it remove my wax?
No, it will not remove your wax and now you do not have to worry about tiny scratches caused by drying towels or chamois.

If it works, it might help prevent the much dreaded paint swirls and the build up of deposits on places that are either hard to wipe down or you just don't wipe down (inside doors, trunks, hood, etc.). Also, like you pointed out, there is a lot of drama when your are frantically drying off your automobile. This can be made to be even worse when your neighbor stops to chat or you get that phone call that you have to answer.

You are indeed a good bird.

Several members have used it and live by it. You can find a lot more info in the detail forum but I do have one and also love it. Just make sure that your resin is still good before rinsing and leaving your car in the sun.

(Humor, and sadly truth on my part) For one to be truly ****-retentive, you need to filter/condition ALL water you use to 0.5 micron and change filters monthly or so. This includes the water that washes the car... to the dishes and cooking water... to the water used to flush with.
And yes, it makes a difference in washing and cooking (not sure about the flushing part ).
Water here comes for a natural artesian well, so yes filtering is good yet to 0.5 micron could be considered a bit, well, eh hem, overkill. Still, the tap water here beats all those fancy bottled waters imho.
