That's funny if it wasn't sad. You Steven is correct most likely the dealer is the only place to get that. Hope it don't cost you the money you were going to spend on the family car.

I can just hear it now, Gee honey have to buy a small plastic button for the Bentley so your new car will have to wait another year.

I went to a new Dealership that just opened in Nashville TN and those people were a pleasure. I will have to start a whole new thread on that topic. While in the service office I asked about this part and they looked it up for me and the cost was $228.38 available in 1-2 days. I joked it up pretty good telling them about this forum and thread and how we insinuated that this part might cost plenty.

Really nice folks over there and did they have the cars. Yes sir.

I read somewhere that many upmarket cars would cost up to 10x their manufactured price if they were bought and assembled entirely from spare parts.

Secret is to break only the cheap bits I guess

I hear you. A set of mats was going to cost me US$1500 but because the driver's one was the only dirty mat - the rest looked like new - I did a clean with Meguiar's Quik Out, hands down the best carpet stain remover I've ever used. Beats steaming or any other cleaning method.

Saved me $1470 which I could now use to buy a rear seat coat hanger in the unlikely event it ever broke.

Ditto on the one dirty mat. I have cleaned it a few times but have to accept that I do not have a brand new car.

That price is for the complete starter button unit with chrome ring. Part number should be "3W0959839B" same for LHD and RHD.

If you could somehow strip part down Im sure you could get it rechromed or just spray it silver/black/red?
