Flashing PDC button..front works but rear doesnt?

Encountered a strange problem today when car is in reverse the PDC (Park Distance Control) button flashes. The rear PDC doesnt work at all and the button also flashes in N. It wasnt working yesterday (flashing) but worked this morning (stayed lite) and in this evening started flashing again!? I presume the front PDC works as I can hear the GONG sound vs beeping for rear PDC.

I read that in some situations such as parking car in closed rectangular room with smooth walls (e.g. underground car parks like mine) it could effect the PDC. I havent tested in open space to prove if this is correct but has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks!

J

Not sure but assuming continental When you place the car in reverse does it let out one long beep? If so you may have a bad sensor its pretty common. You will need to read the faults to find out exactly which one usually the center ones inside the reverse light housings

Thanks for the reply.

There isn't a long beep in reverse but the normal few beeps as if it was working. There is a long beep in D as if something was close by the sensors as both front n rear are in use. Possible as I have a single space and front could be detecting the wall.

I will see if I can get a vagcom and check wiring on both rear reverse light housing as no way to access ones in bumper. Do you know if I unplugged one sensor will system still work?

Update later...

Thanks

Yeah your best bet is to find a way the check the faults because if the button is flashing there is a fault. Usually if you unplug or a sensor fails that whole bank will go dead most common is the rear and even more so the center sensors. That's why I asked about the long beep.
But keep us posted maybe we will all learn something new.
