Supersports wheels on a non SS.

Supersports wheels on a non SS.
I am considering changing the stock wheels on my 2011 Speed. I have a few options which I am looking at.
Firstly to have a set of lightweight 22's custom made. I had HRE's on a previous GT which you will see in my Avatar, and despite what people may say, I did'nt feel they compromised the handling or comfort.
Secondly I do like the OEM look, especially the black SS rims and feel they would look great on my Onyx color. My question is, would they fit directly to my car? It doesn't look like the SS is any wider at the rear and I can't seem to get a clear answer from my dealer. Does anyone know for sure?
Lastly I also like the 21's on some of the current generation GT's but again I am unable to confirm if these will fit directly. I don't see why not but was anything changed in this area on the newer models.
Anyone have any clear answers on this? Thanks in advance.
Keith.

Supersports is 50mm wider than the standard GT, but its the track that it's wider, not the tires.
I wanted to pick up a set of black SuperSports rims for my car (I like them better than my silver-colored rims), but the cheapest price I could find is an eye-watering $8K for a set of USED rims and tires on Ebay. For that money, you can buy a set of custom HREs, with tires and have some cash left.
Have you seen the rims on the new Le Mans edition? I think they look amazing:

So will they fit or not? You already have a Supersports but with silver rims?
That is the dilemma, the SS rims are close in price to a custom made set, although a dealer I found has them for less and will take my as new Speed wheels and tres in trade.

Hello,
SS wheels come in TWO versions : 1) FRONT wheels & 2) BACK wheels. The back-wheels da have a different offset (ET).
To place SS-wheels on a regular GT(C), you should onluy use 4 of the Front-wheels (ET41).
This link shows you dimensions and applicability of all current Bentley-wheels for all models.

hope this info is useful to you (and others).
I, myself have been looking at the OZ-superforgiata wheels in 19 inch. Mainly to reduce the unsprung weight and get better roadhandling. The price for a set however is auch!.
Anybody tried to put 'low-weights' on their GT(c)? How and to which extent has it effected the handling and feedback?
grtz,
christian

Hi, thanks for that info. I thought I had read somewhere that you should put four front wheels all the way round to make it fit correctly, and was trying to confirm. That really makes it non viable.
I presume the offset on the rear would push the wheel out too far and possibly rub. It's funny, all the ones advertised state that they will fit non SS, that could be an expensive mistake!
Oh well, have to peruse alternative avenues.
Keith.

well, I dont have any problem with ss wheels, rear wheels have different offset so it rubs the rear liner little when there is a hard dip (rarely happens), but mine is lowered.

I have the HRE monoblock aluminum in 22" and really liked the look of SS so much, I had them painted black and the lips in white. I've posted pictures on here in another thread and I love the look. I mention this because with the black paint on rims, you don't see a lot of difference in rims at a glance, so maybe painting your HREs might be the best option, especially since it will save you tons of money since you already have a set!?
Just my 2 cents.

i pushed my 20" mulliners out 15mm at front and 20mm at the back with a proper set of hubcentric spacers and longer studs, i could have even gone more aggressive. the back could have probably been pushed out an inch lol

Guys, for everyone considering SS rims, keep in mind that they are very fragile (meaning they are MUCH easier to bend than standard rims). If you hit a pothole, there is a 50% chance of you bending a rim. My car's service history has 2 bent rims and I think I may have one already after hitting a pothole on a highway (yes, we have that feature in NYC).
