Mobile phone in the GT cars

I've heard some good and some bad stories of mobile phone reception in the Bentley.
Does any one know if the 2008 GT Speed can receive mobile phone signals and GPS speed camera location device reception?

Do 08 cars still have the anti infra red coating that's stops radio signals

This could be a real problem if I cant get phone in the car and would initiate an immediate sale of the car

HELP please.

if you go to bentley motors .com there used to be a section under ownership explaining which phones are compatible with different cars. check it out and see if that helps.

No coating on windscreen as i recall. As for Bluetooth, see www.bentleymotors.com/ownership/bluetooth_guide/

Oops, just noticed they don't list the 2008 models in the drop down box. Odds are you'll need the $2000 hardware update, and even then it might work, might not.

Thanks to you both.
I have entered the Vin number an it says the car has Blue Tooth . My specific Nokia 6300 classic isn't mentioned but what's the cost of a new phone compared to a Bentley

I also checked and the car isn't fitted with the IF filtered screen but has double glazing IF filtered side glass

Your old Nokia 6300 has rSAP so it will work with your 2008 Bentley.

rSAP is a different way of accessing the phone. IMHO is it far better than Bluetooth as it turns your car into the actual TX/Rx radio of the phone, thus better reception, etc PLUS whatever names/numbers you have ON THE SIM CARD is automatically entered into the car's 'address book'.

Thanks for that. Is there a way of checking if its actually on my phone. I had a look through the specification sheet and didn't see any mention of rSAP.

Its not a big problem, I will just have to get another phone if it wont work. Ive had the phone since about 2008.

The good news is that Nokia was a leader in rSAP and so their phones up until around Windows 7 all had rSAP. Also, old Windows Mobile does support rSAP whereas Windows Phone 7/8 and the new Android phones WILL NOT work with rSAP (there are hacks, but would rather not go there).

Looks like the OS on that old Nokia phone you have employs a proprietary Nokia OS program. Hmmm.... now it is hard for me to say if it will or won't work. If you get an old phone that uses Windows Mobile (like the old Windows CE was for handheld devices) you should be fine for rSAP.

Yes you can get Bluetooth working in the car... maybe. The oldish Bentley Bluetooth systems are so hit and miss and your old phone with proprietary OS is a unique thing I've never dealt with. Wish I knew more.

Thanks good information. At the very worst I will buy a phone that is listed on the website that you posted on here for me to look at.
