BMC air filters

Replaced the stock paper element air filters yesterday with BMC air filters from Fabspeed. A small but VERY noticeable improvement in throttle response !

Goes to show how our cars respond to even small removal of obstructions in air flow. I was going to uncork the exhaust today ( secondary car removal ) but going to temporarily put that on hold. Enjoying just the uncorking of the intake for now !

Again a small but very noticeable improvement. Well worth the cost and the twenty minutes.

smgco, just a heads up my friend.... just be careful with higher sodium/etc in your engine. Make sure you do a UOA (used oil analysis) as I found those type of filers can allow more dirt into the engine.

Myself, I installed a set of JRfilters some 15OOOmi ago.
This constructor has been founded in the year 1992 to develop and produce high technlogy air filters.
In the year 1998 the company received the certificate of ISO 9001
JR FILTERS producing company was accepted by the German government ( KBA ) which is the highest possible award which a firm can receive.

Superior filtration of JR Airfilters :
The only (?) filters that will protect your engine against particles as small as 2.8 microns.
Remains 99% efficient.
Gain in airflow is +10% when new, in comparison with new stock paper filter

But most important to me:
They have TÜV -approval and the filter is TÜV-tested for its filtering and airflow- capabilities
(see links:

)

Nice advert. Either Placebo effect or paid advert.
If you really think Bentley and VW engineers restrict the GT to only 550hp by installing a restrictive air filter then good luck to you.

ISO9001 accreditation makes you buy a product ??? Now we're really not in Kansas anymore Dorothy.

Well Digger,
I'm not related to ANY commercial car- and/or parts manufacturer nor seller.
But in a previous life I used to be a vp for Europe's most prestigious and independant testing facilities (cars - trucks- moto). Overall, we tested about TWO MILLION vehicles EACH YEAR for road-safety and emissions. ( Eu-Governements exige that every car on the road has to be inspected at least once a year). Also the ones that had been altered enginewise or had been reconditioned after a serious accident. Many respectable car manufacturers (like all the German ones) had a fair share of their developmenttests done by us and adapted their products according to our findings.
So I think I have a clou what I'm talking about...... and the thoroughness and objectivity of a TÜV-testrapport is something you can bank on.

Reffering to the cottongauze filters I replaced the paperones with, I merely wanted to document that these ones are tested and certified to give a 10% 'easier' passage for the air -clamp your nose and with your open mouth try to suck air trough a paper coffee-filter and then take a pack of cottongauze and do the same, the result will be obvious-, while having a very high grade of very small particle retention. So I'm confident that they will bring no (or minimal) harm to my engine.

In my view the reduction of resistance in the airflow might help in reducing reaction-time (throttle respons, spooling time of turbo's,....). Wether this will be noticable or not by the driver : ???? And even in the case of a pure placebo-effect, it still makes the driving-experience somewhat better.

But then again I remember having read in a post from Bentley when they introduced the 2010 SS, that the higher TQ/Hp output in the SS was -partially- gained trough 'a modification in bumperstyle and air-induction channels that allowed a 10% higher airflow'.
(I think that the intercoolers in the SS stayed similar to those of the GT/Speed)

Christian,
I obviously can't give you a quantative answer but the difference is very noticeable. I put about 100 miles on the car ( 2013 GT Speed ) yesterday and the small difference continues to amaze me. The free reving is butter smooth, low end accelleration is smooth/effortless, better overall throttle response and better/smoother shifts. Well worth the cost.
