Oh, my poor dear misguided Dr. Disaster (if that is your real name). You would buy the FS for the same reasons that you adore your present Bentley Continental and I would buy it for the same reasons as well. It has the same heritage, built better, handles better, is much better looking, etc. Although I can't comment on the Mulsane as I have never considered getting one, I can and will give you my theory about me owning a RR. It is just like I told the RR salesman at Pebble Beach earlier in the year: "I'm too young to own a RR, I'm only 69!"

You nailed me I am poor (-$) and hugely misguided. Dr. Disaster is not a name but a life description.

I like the spur but possibly would want a car more separate in design or ideology and a biggggggg azzzz boat of decadent luxury. Do me a favor and drive a Mulsane and send me a report. I understand it might not be the car you are looking for but it would be nice to hear your assesment of one. Walk in that dealer with your oversized young heuvos tell em you want to drive the big boy.

I admit, because of my delightful experience with my GT and then my current GTC, that I have been narrow minded and only considered the Continental FS to replace my 12 year old ML430. I will give the Mulsane a go at your insistence.

Have you driven either the Mulsane or the NEW 2014 FS? Here is a video comparing a RR Ghost to the older version of the FS (deal them and weep Sparky):

Hung out with a Mulsanne all weekend. It is an old man's car imho. VERY nice car of course, but am too young to consider having one here. Now if you want to be chauffeured, that is another story. As a driver, not for me. Of course to each their own and all that.

I must be older than I thought. To be clear I would not trade the GTC for the "Geezer Glide" but already owning the sporty car I could add the boat float.

Gr will get what pleases him, just like the last minute change on the color of the GT he bought. And as to the comparison with the Ghost, I have driven that car I would expect the Mulsane to be a more powerful driver oriented car.

So you have not driven the Mulsane or the new 2014 FS, correct?
Saying "I would expect..." is like saying "I assume..." and we know what trouble the word "ASSume" gets us into.

If anyone else out there has advice about what would compare to the NEW 2014 Bentley Flying Spur to I would suggest that take a test drive in one before you become pre-opinionated like my dear Disastrous friend. My wife and I went to the dealer when they were having a FS test drive weekend for the 2014 model. We went there just for the fun of it but came away beyond impressed. You would think for the large size of the FS it would not handle near as well as it did. We went back this last weekend and again, I could not believe the wonderful experience. The longer wheel base makes a big difference and the 8 speed transmission probably helped as well. The new FS is a much different animal than the previous year model.

Dr. you caused controversy and people love controversy. So you did good.
I will drive a Mulsane later and get back to you as I assume your Bentley dealer in New Tazewell, TN does not carry either in stock.

Let me be clear this is not commentary.

I have seen two of the Mulsane but not at my dealer in New Tazewell. We only have mom and pops used car dealers a 5k car is average. That one Mulsane in Nashville was the most beautiful car I have ever seen. Oh crap that was commentary. Sorry.

I would respect your opinion about the car and hope to read about your drive. I do not have the means to buy that car at this time and not being a serious buyer I would not ask to just put miles on their new car. They offered me a ride in the Ghost so I took it. I love those people in Nashville, Atlanta not so much.

I did feel embarrassed after being called out for ignorant opinion, not that I am am new to that but this forum is a place where I would prefer to be respected.

I have the utmost respect for you Dr. and your opinions. If I came across too harshly, I apologize. Everything is fine.

Probably more my fault than yours. I am just a natural Ahole. In fact my wife tells everyone that she was born without an Ahole. She says that she thought one might come in handy someday so she married me.

The only reason that I am considering the SF right now is that my salesman, Ryan, says if I order one he will make my Apple stock go up. And the first two times I bought a Bentley from him the Apple stock shot up materially. It wasn't his fault that I didn't sell at the high. So I would be a fool not to get it.
