Rear silencer vacuum system.

Hi.

Whilst having a good look around my newly aquired Bentley I noticed the vacuum mechanism on the rear silencers. What's more, I found that they were stuck.
A squirt of WD40 soon had them moving freely, but, I don't have a clue as to what they actually do.
Can any forum member please let me know what their purpose is?

Thanks. Les.

When I found out what to look for I did a search and found some info'. Also how to mod them.
I think I will have a go at that.

Les.

I was looking at mine as well. can we have a bit more information on modding them.
Are they like the Aston system where the valves make the exhaust louder when open.

It's got to make a bit more power without the obstruction.
