Winter Car Cover

Hello

With winter around the corner I'm looking at getting a cover for my CGT. It lives on the drive and I hope to use our Volvo V70 (with winter tyres) more during the bad weather with the Bentley all wrapped up.

Can anyone recommend a good breathable cover that won't harm the paintwork if it gets a soaking?

Thanks

Chris

IMHO none, but if you insist then get the thickest cover you can find. They will all scratch the paint to some degree as snow falls, wind blows the cover around, etc. If you can, a far better idea is to get a proper metal carport for a few grand, which is what I always use after the Ferrari was treated as you plan to do. Car covers are notorious for damaging paint, and in some ways keeping moisture trapped INSIDE the cover yet can at least keep most of the rain/snow moisture from reaching the car to some extent.

Thanks for your thoughts Steven.

Your experiences were just what was on my mind, hence the question. I'll just have to weigh up leaves, twigs, birds, rain, snow damage against cover damage!

Have you thought about renting an 'auto garage/locker' from a local storage unit place? They run anywhere from 90 - 130$ a month. Also on craigslist you will see many garage units for rent. Just an option to keep her inside.

It's a good thought, thanks. I'll look around and see what's available locally.
