Stupid Move - Closed Trunk w/ Battery Disconnected

Okay I am an idiot. Admitted.

I noticed last night that my break lights on my 2005 Continental GT were stuck on. I tried everything in my minimal knowledge base to get them off to no avail so I disconnected the battery terminal in the trunk. Instead of leaving the trunk open, I closed it. Yes I closed it. Now I can not access the trunk to reconnect the cable to bring the car in for service.

Please Bentley gurus help me, your my only hope.

-Jeff

I was able to find the manual trunk release behind the rear seat cushion. Man that is hidden!

Glad you got it open. I suspect most of us on this forum have had to find that emergency trunk release at one time or another. I know I have.

Left the boot open too long the other day and the lock locked itself and the boot wouldn't shut. Had to switch and on and lock and unlock a few times to get back in sync.

Weird one.

Hi Jeffreym,

I have a 2007 Bentley GTC and I have done the same thing where I disconnected the battery and closed the trunk. I keep reading everywhere and was told there is a manual release behind the rear seat. I am not sure if the GTC is differ from the Coupe. But for the life of me, I cannot find the switch. I stumbled upon this topic, that you had found the switch. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't speak to the convertible, but in the coupe, once the passenger rear seat back is removed, you will see a lever that rotates from left to right. This lever is quite stiff and you might find it easier to rotate if you have someone press down gently upon the trunk lid in the center. As you rotate the lever, you should hear a click as the trunk is released. If not, it is possible the cable that connects the lever to the trunk latch is slipping or is broken.

with the convertible i think you can open the hatch in the centre of rear seats and if you look in you will see a white handle on the trunk liner,if you operate that and have somebody by the trunk to push down slightly and then lift it should open.

The lever is somewhat hidden behind some metal. Its behind the passenger rear seat.

Thanks Gentleman, I will give this a try. Rear seats seem difficult to remove on GTC.

Bentleytech, does the vehicle need power in order for that white lever to operate? I've tried using a long broom stick to press down and there was no action.
