Bentley W12 engine production moves to Crewe

Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe will take over all VW Group W12 engine production
Bentley, the world's largest producer of 12-cylinder engines, has confirmed its headquarters in Crewe will take over production of the W12 engine. By the end of 2014, the British brand will manufacture all W12 engines for the VW group, ending the current production in Germany.
The move also means Bentley will be exporting its engines for the first time. Production is expected to be upped to 9,000 units per year by 2017/18 – an increase of 4,000 on its current output.
As well as featuring in the Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur, Bentley is also due to fit the W12 engine to its new SUV when it arrives in 2016. The manufacturer will also export the engines to Germany for use in the Audi A8 and as yet unspecified Volkswagen models.
Around 100 new jobs will be created across the company, helping boost a sector of the economy that already employs 142,000 people nationwide and is worth £11.2 billion. Commenting on the development, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Schreiber said, “The production of this advanced engine and its future generations will bring new technologies and skills to Crewe.”

Hi Frank. Here's me thinking you were a Scot'.
I'm from those parts too. Drove past the Bentley factory every day when I worked in Crewe for a few months.
We plan moving back to Prestbury when we sell up in France.
