Strange Noise

Hi

Been busy recently and done a lot of miles in my 05 gt, having hit a rock in a hedge I had to do a refurb. Put the wheel back on tonight and started the car to just check everything and I am sure the engine was noiser than normal, there is a loud clicking noise which is engine speed related, anyone else had this? It might just be that I haven't heard it for a few days but did catch me by surprise.

Any comments??

No I have not hit a rock in a hedge yet. I wonder if something is bent or pushed back onto a fan or other rotating part? It is pretty hard to see anything in there the way they pack that motor in. Engine speed not wheel speed?

We have some very tight country lanes around here, the wheel just dragged on a rock which was a tad annoying, no speed or impact.

The fault was independent to the wheel, just happened to notice at the same time. I did however notice that the oil level was lower than I have seen it. Topped up it was definitely quieter.

I should disclose that I am a mechanical engineer and obsessed with mechanical noise, have also worked in motorsport, and main stream auto. You could not hear the noise from the cabin.

sounded to me like the front of the cam cover area Bentleytech. Like a hydraulic follower not pumping up sound.

Thanks for your replies guys.

So you just polished up the wheel for cosmetic damage only?

Good to hear you did not full head on slam the rock hedge and hope the small sound is no real motor damage. If it continues to bother you just make exhaust louder. Just funning mate.
