Replace Analogue TV in 2005 GT

In the UK, Analgoue TV broadcasts have now ceased. Digital service only.

Is it possible to upgrade my GT to receive Digital TV?

I'm sure it must be but cant find any relevant information. On BMW and Range Rover, it's as simple as removing the TV module and replacing with one from a later car.

your current defunked tuner last three digits found on the unit is 146.....

the vw pheaton with last three digits ending 148 will give you digital DVB

No software mods needed.............

Thanks - I found some info on a VW forum, but they talked about firmware updates to the main controller and the screen to support the digital tuner. Is that correct, or only applicable to the Phaeton?

I dont want to load VW firmware onto my GT and end up with a VW logo on my screen

Hmmm, i know this might sound a bit obvious, yet have you asked your Bentley dealer?

Yes - but their answer was as expected. "My year GT did not come with Digital TV, and no Digital Tuner is listed as a suitable replacement for that model".

So in other words, "computer says no".

I understand what module I need, but short of finding one I can borrow to try, I don't want to shell out for a module and then discover I need firmware which no one can supply.

Hi Guys

I did search this myself after the purchase of my 06 gt and found the following link and information

http://www.cardiff.bentleymotors.com/about-us/offers/digital_tv_upgrade/

DIGITAL TV UPGRADE

Bentley Cardiff are pleased to offer an upgrade to existing Continental vehicles, from analog to the new digital television signal, for £898.00 excl. VAT.
This exclusive upgrade from Bentley Cardiff enables:
- Complete Freeview programming
- Best-in-class performance of DVB-T TV reception
- Teletext programming
- Subtitle features
- Intelligent roaming channel detection

I decided it was not worth over a grand to upgrade as my viewing would be very little, and the screen isn’t really that great either to be honest. Id rather take my ipad out with me.

Some of the guys on the UK Jaguar forum added a digital adaptor.
Here's a link to one retailer in the UK who has units for Audi/VW, so they may be adaptable to a Bentley; https://lovemyauto.wordpress.com/category/vw-car-digital-tv/
