Service cost estimate. Too much?

I have a 2007 GT with 24,000 miles. Service is due in the next 300 miles. The dealership in Edison NJ estimates the cost at $3,000.

"it would be a 8 year service with oil and filter, all air filters, spark plugs (first time and big job) no brake flush since we did it last August.

The cost would be $2975.00"

Sounds high to me, what do you think?

Ryan

The spark plugs are a bit involved. Have you checked with an independent to see what they would charge as I believe there are some indies near you?

I think I paid $2500 for and indy in Knoxville for that service. There actually is some work to that one and some of the filters must come Bentley. Your estimate is not far off I'm afraid.

I think it is replacing the plugs that is costing all the money. there is little to no labor time involved in doing everything else and materials really wouldnt account for more than $500-600 of the price even at the dealer's inflated margin.

Do they replace the air filters and cabin filters at the time? They costs some.

why do you want to replace plugs, they are old but only 24 k miles.
old plugs don't need to be changed because old, but because milage.
that was my service place answer

I just had my yearly service completed and looked at my previous receipt for last year which is the service you are asking about and I paid $2500 + tax.

Edit: I just happened to remember, last year when I did this it was because my dealer told me that it was the 40k and 80k that were expensive ones and everything else was just typical yearly service which seems to make sense. By that I mean that plugs should probably be changed at a mileage interval not a year interval.

It seems that auto services nowadays are charged in proportion to the value of the car and not to the actual time spent and material cost.
