Sound in dash GT

Friends,

For the last 3 weeks been hearing something in the dash behind the instrument cluster. When I turn the car on all fine, but after a while I hear like a low motor sound. When radio and AC off you can hear it. Might go off for a minute but then comes back on. Checked around to see if anything rattling. Any idea what it could be?

Try opening the drivers door and listen to the area half way down between the hinges.
If the noise is louder, it may be the vacuum pump running. You can make it run by pressing the brake pedal a few times to use up the air in the reservoir.
If it doesn't stop running after a short while you may have an air leak on one of the vacuum hoses.
Other than that, it could be radiator fan noise perhaps.

Les.

....as long as the car runs ok fine...a 2005 with 90000 mi. can have a few potential issues...primary is the vacuum lines cracking and leaking but you will notice that condition in the erratic performance...keep your fingers crossed because thats a hard one...do you have the prior service records...how much mileage was on car when you got it...JimB
