Highest definition audio supported
Does anyone know what is the highest definition audio supported in the latest generation of CGT? I have some classical music in lossless format and wanted to know if I can play it in my car (MY2014) without using CDs. Will the car support Apple lossless via iPod interface or WMA lossless via USB? Is there support for higher-sampling audio formats like DVD-Audio or SACD? I remember reading the manual a year ago and it did not have any info about it.
P.S. I do _NOT_ have the Naim option, although I dont think it matters for format support.

ek1, as I recall they do not support 24-bit/192kHz, DSD, etc. There is a work-around as you eliminate the 6-disc changer and use an analog 'hook-in' to the system.
The above basically fools the car's computer to think it has a CD changer and uses the analog input of the CD changer in-car circuitry. Also, it allows you to use the latest Hi-Res Audio portable players or you could install a DAC that can be used with a 12V system (or modded to handle such) with digital inputs and stereo analog output. This assures you always have the latest technology and memory storage is whatever is possible within the device you employ.
As you know, it's kinda the thing I do and have many such portable systems here. My preference is to use the Sony NW-ZX2 and it has 128GB internally and added a 128GB microSD card, for a total of 256GB of storage for my audio files.
You may want to call Bentley and ask them what the audio specs are for your MY2014 and let us know what it handles over the decades old lossy MP3 format and 16-bit/44.1kHz wav (CD). This way others know what the MY2014 stock system can handle.

I'll try to go through my dealership to see what support (if any) for HD audio and lossless compressed formats is there. I remember speaking to folks from NAIM at one of the Bentley events and they had nothing to say about that. I can't even connect my freaking iPod to try Apple Lossless because the car came with a wrong cable and the dealership claims it's my iPods (I tried 3 different ones) that are not compatible with the cable. So I've been using Bluetooth streaming. I guess I'll try WMA lossless via USB.

How do you know it is the wrong cable and that the dealership is being, well, allegedly dishonest? Have you contacted the factory or USA distributor about this situation as the factory Apple adapter in the 07 GTC works with Apple products, though it does have far too low an audio output due to not meeting decades old longstanding industry 2v output standards. Substandard, yes, yet works.

I can't blame the dealer because I only brought this to them once and they said they tested two of my iPods in other cars and they did not work (probably because those other cars have a red cable as well). Of course, both of these iPods worked perfectly in my 2011 SuperSports (which had a black cable). I did not bother with pursuing it with the dealer it because Bluetooth streaming works perfectly and I did not need to use the iPod until now. I guess I'll reach out to the dealership now and ask for a black cable again. I am sure they will mail it to me, they are good about these things.

Ahh, good to know they'll help with a solution. Let me know if it also supports 24-bit/96kHz or higher resolution. DSD might be a bit much to ask for at this time, yet in a few years everything should support 24/192 and DSD.
