04 gt trunk water
I have read the threads about water in the trunk and the drain holes. I blew air into the drain holes and nothing came out. I am wondering whether they are even connected? How do I take the cover off the trunk? Does it simply pull out or are there screws anywhere? I'd hate to break something.
Anyone have any pics of how to remove it?
I assume once the spoiler is raised I should be able to see some kind of plastic tubing from the top to the bottom.
Regarding drain from gas filler cap... Where does that one get routed?
Thx in advance,
Remy

the drain in the gas filler area goes behind the rear wheel.
the drains in the trunk are located in the back end of the trunk not under the spoiler.I think ExSF has posted pics of them check his posts.

Yes there is a screw on the right side grab handle, not the left emergency release, remove that screw, and the rest are all clips.

One of the tubes on mine had come adrift at the lower boot edge causing water to congregate inside. Simple fix but that kind of thing shouldn't happen in the first place.
It did however have a new boot release fitted by the main dealer shortly before. Maybe they dislodged it!
Take your time with the clips, they are a bit fragile.
Les.

Quick update....
Both my tubes were not connected!!10 seconds each.took out the spare tire and saw 2 inches of water there!looks like it's all plastic there anyway.
When taking out the cover,I messed up and on the grabs screw,I took out this screws just to the left and lower from the drain in that small round bumper thing. Also did not realize the emergency triangle was also screwed to the trunk. But all good.took some water and ran it down the window, it comes out of the bottom of the trunk with the trunk closed as it should.will let trunk air dry out for a day and the look at it after the be t heavy rain.
Thanks all for your help. I still don't see where the drain holes openings are by the spoiler.

Great pictures and really good advice, thank you.
This question is hopefully aimed at Johnny Hotspur - I have a series 2 GT 2012 UK Mulliner spec. Many crucial things seem to be different from the series 1. I cannot for the life of me get to the top drain holes beneath the spoiler. So, spurred on by your photo of the dismantled silver GT, I have the notion of removing the spoiler so I can get at the drain holes. My question is - can the spoiler simply be unbolted from the "up down mechanism" or will something disastrous occur? It looks tempting to simply unbolt the three Torx screws each side.
By the way, as a trained engineer, I am simply appalled at the awful design of many items on this car - especially this rear drainage affair. I would love to meet the person who came up with this ludicrous affair. The fact that it works at all is simply by complete chance. The 2Mastic Caulk sealant/glue"arrangement around the pathetic plastic pieces in the picture here is simply an insult to good design. Grrrrr.
To note that this is a totally stupid design is an understatement. Stuff like this just shouldnt be on a Bentley.

Ha! Well don't forget it's actually a VW...

You do have a point. However, that makes it even more inexcusable, in my opinion - engineers from a huge mass-market car manufacturer ought to be able, at least to figure out how to make excess water drain correctly off a car. Its pretty basic stuff. Very annoying. If I had paid $200k for this car and had this fault/problem, I would return it and ask for my money back - its not even close to being fit for purpose!

You are absolutely right Dark Green. I fixed my water from the spoiler problem and noted also just what you said, nothing greased or blu painted to prevent corrosion. Not nearly good enough for a car of this price. If I ever do buy something exotic brand new, it sure as hell won’t be one of these!
I’m thinking of going “classic” maybe Mercedes - something before digital electronics, air suspension and “ modern manufacturing”.
