TPMS sensor issues

Dear all

I’m currently having issues with the TPMS as both rear wheels shows the exclamation mark. Tech at last service informed me rear right sensor had a low batt warning so I should keep an eye on it but after a week rear left had issues too.

Vagcom TPMS controller no. 65 last nite to find no fault codes so checked below measuring blocks to find various times for month data field. Does this field show batt life left as that wouldn’t make sense for rear right sensor which garage commented was dying? It seems both rear sensors can still read air pressure when I let out air from the tires.

I plan to replace all four sensors and run adaptation for auto relearn but need to make sure no other parts are faulty.

Does anyone know to perform antenna diagnosis check with vagcom?

MVB 001-002 = Front Left Wheel (0 months)
MVB 004-005 = Front Right Wheel (2 months)
MVB 007-008 = Rear Left Wheel (0 months)
MVB 010-011 = Rear Right Wheel (30 months)

Thanks!

The sensors become very unpredictable with battery life under 24mo. If you have an 04-05 you may consider replacing the control module at the same time because it will probably fail just after sensor replacement. Iv had so many fail after sensor replacement (within 6 mo) I started selling the sensors and module together to save the customer the second trip and frustration.

Hi, might be worth just checking your ' hotel ' battery condition? TPMS is one of the first errors the car throws if this is starting to run down.

No 2006 are not as bad. While they do fail it is not nearly as common. 04-05 used one system then 06-07 used a second system then in 2008 they switched it again. All of them are audi systems. If you have no other faults I'm willing to bet you will be ok after sensor replacement.

Finally replaced all tpms sensors along with a set of Michelin PSS ties.

New sensors work great and the PSS drive are so much nicer than the Pzero. No more vibrations through steering wheel and ride feels a lot more plush too.

Next question is how long will these tires last!

Congrats on the TPMS fix via new sensors and glad you like the improved feel and grip of the Mich PSS tires. Great grip those PSS as compared to the sliding stock Pirelli P Zero. As for how long they'll last, that depends on the roads and your driving habits. So far i feel they have a better lifespan than the Pirelli on the 2007 GTC here.
