GT Tire pressure confusion
Sticker on the door says: 49/41 psi (front/rear)
Drivers dash info panel says:
Max speed 51/42
High Speed 44/36
Normal Speed 44/36
Owner's Manual says:
Over 168 mph 49/41 (same as sticker on the door)
Up to 168 mph 42/35
Below this line there was some additional info but Bentley put a white sticker in my manual to blank it out. (Look at your page 12-2)
I have a 2008 Speed model so other car's info may differ.
A couple of issues I have.
First of all the data in the manual differs from the vehicle dash display as to what the specs are.
Secondly both the front and rear pressures, even the lowest 42/35, are unusually high compared to all other cars I've had.
Thirdly why is the "normal" pressure the same as the "up to 168 mph" pressure?
Lastly I don't understand why the front pressures are supposed to be so much higher than the rear - 7 to 9 psi higher.
Can anyone explain any of this?
It seems to me that the ride comfort would be improved with lower pressures. A typical car calls for 30-32 psi cold with front and rear pressures the same. What could go wrong with setting the rear at 30 or 32 and, in keeping with Bentley's desire to have the front substantially higher, setting the front at 37 or 39 psi? This assumes normal USA driving speeds not over 90 mph. (The max speed limit in this state is 80 mph.)
