Do I need new brakes? Do they "chirp"? Warning light? '09 Flying Spur
Hi all:
My pre-owned 09 Flying Spur (standard type, i.e: NOT SPEED Ed.) has 64,000 miles and I am hearing a "chirp" whenever I use the brakes. I assumed this meant that I need new brakes.
But... My Bentley mechanic told me that the Bentley brakes don't have the tab that produces the "chirp" like normal cars to indicate they are low. Rather, he said, I would receive a warning indication on the dash. I don't have any such warning. I don't have a manual so I can't confirm this.
Is this true? If so, what might the chirp be that I am hearing? Thanks!

Not sure about chirp, as that does not seem normal. You mechanic is correct there is a dash warning light, and when it goes off you have only a bit of time before making the change. Hope this helps.

I had a stone stuck between the disc and the backplate a while ago, it might be worth taking the wheels off and checking.
Remember to put the car into jacking mode first.

Sounds to me you need new pads, could be brake pad backing plate making contact with disc. My rear inner pads were worn right down whilst outer was okay and making a high pitch squeak everytime i stopped.
Front or rear pads only use one wear sensor so if other pad is worn no warning light will appear. Very easy to check outer pad but inner will need wheel off.
