GPS phone reception inside the car

Hi Guys,

Whenever I try to use google maps inside my 2007 gt...the signal drops out 90% of the time, rendering the app useless.

I have heard that the screens are all coated which restricts the gps signal coming through.

I tried a friends garmin glo to see if this improved matters and it was slightly better but still lost the signal 75% of the time..

I know that there are certain areas of the glass that give better rreception than others, but do I really want to be driving around with a black oblong box stuck to my side window?....not really!

Wondering if any of you guys have the same issue when using your phones for navigation?.

My phone is the HTC M8.

Have an 07 GTC yet the glass does not have that 'coating' and so signal is fine. i believe Bentley stopped offering that option as it was a problem for owners. What you are experiencing is normal with such coatings.

A later replacement screen is £2K...so may be my only option.

Are the side windows coated ?

I've had same problems on 05 cgt. Also the ezpass doesn't work. I've been looking at this fella www.navdy.com projection like a jet fighter screen. This would allow you to put phone anywhere hence my question about the side windows

That is an amazing bit of kit!...but may look a little bulky on the dash?

I have found aftermarket windscreens for the gt for £500 supplied without the coating and ready to take the rear view mirror etc, so just for the sake of getting google maps to function on my phone, I may go down that route for now.

You'd think there was some form of antenna to solve this . Lmk if the side windows are a solution

Had the same issue with my 06 Flying Spur, recently had the windshield replaced due to a rock chip and with the new glass my GPS works flawlessly.
