BAD Trunk
#16
Ron...do you know why the mechanical device behind the passenger back seat did not work...isn't that totally mechanical...
On the battery, you must be a beast...there was no way in hell I could just reach in and shimmy out the 60 pound battery...I have a friend who is smaller and strong...he climbed in trunk and pulled it...same with putting in the new one...I am now going to hook it back up and with fingers crossed hope everything works again...I hear that windows etc need to be reprogramed?? What pointers can you give me on setting things up again...thanks JimB

@Ron,
Yeah, I think I know what happened:
I had a bad exhaust flap controller and was replacing it, so I had my rear end jacked up while my battery was charging at the same time, trunk open. Well, while the car was jacked up and finished charging, I closed the trunk not realizing the body being shifted just enough to mess with the alignment......
never do this again...lesson learned

@Jim
60lb sounds heavy. I am recalling changing the battery was not too bad. Took me only like 15min. Now, I wish I documented the procedure and posted it. After changing the battery, I never had to reprogram anything. All these settings should be inside VAG programming. Of course, you will get some errors on startup, but give the car time to learn the information from all its computers.
Did you know that a Bentley has about 30 computers built in to the car?

Brian.
2008 GTC
Start the memory procedures with the engine off and the ignition switch in the run position. You will need to program the seats. Start with the driver seat first. Move the seats to their max positions and then hit the memory switch. Steering wheel telescoping memory tilt position also.

....I have a trunk issue with my 2010 speed since new, dealer says ok, inherent with the engineering. I have also told it to Bentley big wigs at Pebble Beach...if car is parked on steep downward angle, i.e. many streets here in San Francisco...an open trunk will not automatically close...it apparently has to do with the extra force needed to compensate for the nose down angle of car. Not knowing anything, i.e. that you could manually with little effort put it down...I drove to dealer with trunk up in air...looking real stupid...so now I just don't open trunk when parked on hill...how come now with battery disconnected the trunk lid goes up and down with ease as like with no resistance at all...yes I have a towel over locking part to avoid the locked up trunk...JimB
