A/C blowing hot air--HELP! 09 Flying Spur
Hey guys. I have ANOTHER new problem with my 09 Flying Spur. This time with the AC. Need your input.
AC was working fine, other than the fact that the intervals have been jammed to "outside" air (I can't toggle to recirculate inside air). But yesterday afternoon when I started the car, I got absolutely NO cold air. Air is boiling hot. When I switch the temp from cold to hot, I can hear some valves moving in the dash, but I get no cold air.
Disgusted with my local Bentley dealership. So I took it to an Audi dealership today. They tried to recharge the refrigerant, twice, but they said it immediately drained. Since they're not Bentley, they couldn't (and don't have the knowledge of the car) to further diagnose the problem and said I had to go to Bentley.
Before I go to Bentley and get RAPED again, can you guys suggest what might be wrong? Below is the narrative written by Audi. They tried to charge me $340 for 2hrs labor diagnosis!! I had to argue with the manager. Never heard of a dealer charging a diagnosis fee when they can't actually diagnose it!!
From Audi:
"performed AC evac and recharge. Low side pressure on compressor is too low. This could be a clog at 'oriface' tube with debris caused from a failing compressor. AC refrigerant leaked out very quickly after evac and recharge put vehicle in air and checked for any connections that may have blown apart or come loose. Nothing loose or damaged underneath possible AC compressor failure or AC pressure switch failure"
Thanks for ANY input!

You can have a tech install leak detection fluid. You may have a leak in the lines along the firewall. If you try this and detect a leak, PM me and I'll walk you through a couple of ideas on how to avoid replacing some of the AC pressure lines. The plumbing isn't that expensive, but access to the tubing is very difficult.

Thanks guys. Turns out the "seal is bad" on the AC compressor, and I'm being told i need a new compressor at a cost of $1698.62USD + labor!!!!!!!
I told the dealer to not touch anything, and that I'd source the part on my own.
Can you guys suggest a place I can get another compressor? FlyingSpares has a new one at a cost of $1052USD + shipping to the US, which I'm afraid will take a LONG time.
Do you think I could get away with buying a used compressor on ebay?
The part number according to the dealer is 3W0820803.

Did anybody notice the sticker on the "NEW" unit from Flying Spares, "RMFG" in Britain....
"This is a new, genuine Bentley part."
I come up with re-manufactured as also seen on the yellow sticker.

LOL! Selling remanufactured as new. Why am i not surprised. You could sell the car before it costs you another $5000. Am soooo happy to sell the GTC and no longer have nightmares about the costs of car repair or dealing with the VW Group who seem to not care at all about their customers. Even a repeat customer like me they burned.
BMW... It feels like.... freedom. Driving the BMW has been a true joy in so many ways. I sleep well at night
BTW, so many problems with Bentley as this board points out. Go visit the BMW boards and mainly you read about tweaking, engine mods, etc as they love their cars. Lottsa fun guys enjoying driving BMW.
