Bluetooth module location help please
Hello everyone,
I'm planning on ordering the Bluetooth upgrade from flying spares:
http://www.flyingspares.com/shop/bentley-continental-gt-gtc-cgt-flying-spur-speed/telephone-mobile-cell-phone/bluetooth-hft-iphone-jnv035394.html
It's for a gt and I see it's a quick 15 minute installation. The diagram refers to trim 70, anyone know where that is?
Thanks in advance for your help.

in the trunk ceiling, there's a panel. If you unscrew it and pull it down, you'll see it in the top left corner. Old unit is much bigger then the new one. You just take out three screw and unplug it, then plug in new unit and screw back in.
Old unit had two connectors, new one works with only one.
Honestly, worth every penny for the upgrade. Works flawlessly on iPhone 7 plus.

I bought and installed this but the microphone volume is very quiet and other callers find it difficult to hear me. Have I done something wrong or is yours similar?

Flying Spares is nice enough to list the process for the module replacement for different cars here:
http://www.flyingspares.com/uploads/...structions.pdf
Keep in mind instructions 1-4 are for one type of car and 5-10 are for different car, kinda confusing.
For the GTC I think I need to remove the rear seat and side panel, although it does not say which side. Anyone ever have any luck getting service manual info from a Bently Dealer?
I imagine the plug we leave unplugged is the one that used to go to the dial interface in the armrest. Was yours system in the armrest dead after the upgrade W10?
Kes my 2007 GTS has that same dial interface in the armrest. That is the factory system as far as I can tell. I can connect bluetooth to that system with an Iphone 4 and 6 but once I make a call it rings throught the cars speakers but as soon as the person picks up it disconnects.
Glad to hear the 7 works with the upgrade!!

Installing the Bluetooth module in a 2007 GTC
I will detail the install of the bluetooth module in a 2007 GTC. The convertible is a bit different from the GT Hardtop version in that the module is in a different place.
Tool you will need:
Flathead screwdrriver
17mm spanner (open ended wrench)
#25 Torx screwdriver
10mm Socket
8mm Socket
7mm Socket
Flat Blunt Upholstery trim removal prying tool
Step 1 - Lower Seat (Squib)
There are 4 clips on the front edge of the seat holding it down. Just get your fingers under there and give it a good pull upwards. Once free the lower seat comes out in one piece.
Step 2 - Seat Back
Have to attack this from two areas we will start first in the interior. At the bottom of the seat you should see 2 10mm nuts with washers holding the seat bottom in place. Remove those.
Then Using your 17mm Open ended wrench remove the seat belt buckles in the center of the seat. These are not actually holding the seat in they just are sort of in the way from being able to move the seat outward when taking it out. This step may not be needed, but it's easy to make yourself some room.
The seat back is now free on the bottom. We now need to free it at the top and for that we have to start in the soft top well. So put your top in a half way open position like the picture below:
You then have access to a pair of end caps and a large plastic cover.
First remove these end caps of each end of the top well area. There is a single 10mm plastic nut to remove then the cover is held in by 3 push in type clips. Once the 10mm nut is removed (yellow arrow) the cover comes straight back to disengage the clips (location of 3 yellow dots).
Back of Panel:
Once both end caps are off we can remove the large back panel. Along the bottom are 4 retainers that have a flat blade slot in them.
Use your flathead screwdriver to remove the 4 retainers.
The large panel is then held in place with 4 more push in type clips.
Just give the panel a pull straight back and they should release.
Doing all that work led us to the 4 screws that hold on headrest covers.
Using an 8mm socket remove the 2 screws on each headrest cover and the cover will come straight up.
Removing that cover gives access to the bolts and nuts at the top of the seat holding the top section of the seat in still.
Using a 10mm socket (may need the extension at this point) remove the 2 nuts and 2 bolts holding the top of the seat.
I should add at this point you see I have that Center top panel removed. It is held in with 4 very stout threaded posts that clip into the 4 retainers I will highlight below. These are very tight and very hard to remove and it seeems the clips get quite mangled in the process of taking them out. I could not figure an easy way to do it just know it comes out at a 45 degree anle to the front. Just get your fingers behind it and give it a pull.
So with the 4 top fasteners removed and the center top panel removed and the arm rest assembly removed the rear seat is now ready to come out. It is still kinda wedged in the bracket at the top center but giving it a lift and a pull releases it pretty easy.
Step 3 - Drivers rear side panel
To remove the rear side panel you first have to remove the panel insert. You can see it done in this video
Using some non sharp and plastic trim removal tools get your tool behind the insert panel and pop out the retaining posts. I started towards the back of the insert panel and worked my way forward where the main clip is located. Guy in the video says start with the main clip but I say it should be the last item you do because once all the retaining posts are popped you can slide the panel backward to disengage the main clip. Under the Insert panel is one of the 4 #25 Torx headed bolts to unscrew. (Don't think I got a picture of the one under the insert panel but it's easy to see)
Now the panel is pretty loose but it is still held in by one specialty panel clip at the lower front of the panel. It seems it has provisions to slide forward to disengage but the threshold panel stops it from going forward very easy. So I think it was designed to pull straight off towards the center of the car. Give it a tug and it should come out of it's hole and stay attached to the panel. COnsequently if you go forward witht he panel it will also disengage the clip but it will seperate from the panel and stay with the car.
Either way when putting it back together this is the state is should be in. WIth the clip extended. This way when you push it in it's hole the arms expand and lock it in place.
With the panel off now you have access to the module. Using a 6mm socket remove the 3 nuts holding it in place. Unplug the 2 connectors and the antenna plug. The plug on the bottom of the module is the one that will plug into the new module. TO unlatch it there is an arm going over the back of the that comes down and helps unseat the plug. That arm is held in place by a little tang. press on the tank and move the arm down to disengage the plug.
Here is the new module mounted up and plugged in.
Take some of the bubble wrap packing material from the new module and wrap it around the plug that is left over and not to be used an longer. Tuck it out of the way and the packing material will keep it from rattling on anything.
Worked right out of the box. No programming, just found it on my phones bluetooth settings and a message on the cars head unit gave me the PIN to use to sync up the devises (PIN was 6888). Works nice, steering wheel controls work nice. Yet to try the voice activated feature, think only works if your phone has the feature.
Then just reverse everything putting it back together. Might also be a good time to break out your favorite leather cleaner and give the pieces a good cleaning as you are putting them back together. May not get an opportunity to get into all the nooks like this again.
Also of note the area directly under by rear seat was saturated with water, there is a sound deadening panel there that absorbed most of it but it was really wet. Not sure what to make of that.

Has anyone tried to work this kit with the latest iphones? The iPhone X, 11, 11 Pro etc are all Bluetooth 5.0 which is backwards compatible with 4.0, 4.2 etc.. Iphone 7 is running on Bluetooth 4.2.
