Bentley gtc future classics and investment what is your thoughts
Hi guys I was at a classic car show the other week and it came to me that modern day cars eventually become future classics. In my opinion there is no nicer car than the Bentley gtc. So let's say you have a 2007 gtc in a few years time do you think they will start to appreciate in value, let's face it early Bentleys mercs Astons etc are all worth fortunes. There was even a RS ford escort for sale at the show for £14.000 I had one years ago that cost £850 lol. Cheers

Hi rangrov.
I've had a few cars that I wish I still had as the value has risen with time.
As for the Conti GT, well, they are expensive to maintain, (especially if you take them to places like the main dealer in Knutsford). So, being expensive to keep on the road, I guess that a lot of them will fall by the wayside leaving the good examples still running. That in itself might make them desirable and/or, classics in a few years time.
Les.

That is exactly what I was thinking plus with independents who are quite reasonable with their repair prices and spares on the after market plus help from sites like this makes the GTC reasonabley affordable for a Sunday fun car. Cheers

Personally no I dont think they will become a classic of any real value. IMO there's too many of them being made.
Fords on the other hand are slightly different. for eg my 1992 Escort RS Cosworth (which they only made 2500 homologation specials in the entire world )was only valued 10 years ago at approximately £12,000 its now in the region of £35k. A low mile'r with perhaps 30k on the clock are fetching £45k and very low milers are seeing £55K +. Why? Well its the heritage of that model. Rally cars of the 90's, working mans sports car. Rally to day, drive to work tomorrow philosophy. Most Ford RS cars have this history for the actual model in question.
Investors get interested in them and buy them to make money, hence there's less on the market for sale and the price keeps rising accordingly.
I dont see that with Bentley, yes they have historic motor racing in the blood, but what did a Conti GTC actually do? I'm not knocking them , I have a GT Speed my self and again I dont see it as ever being a great value car in the future. The GT3 and the latest 2017 Supersport perhaps might make it to the investors attention. The GT3 could already have done so and probably will never loose its value and might keep going up in value. But the foundation models like we have......I dont thing will ever make good investments in financial terms, but what an investment in terms of the heart and personal passion. You just cant put avalue on that.

Haha. I do admit the GTC with roof up is not as sexy as the GT. The line is not very sleek with the rag top.
