Bentley Continental GT 2005 Overheating/Power Loss
#16
My recollection is that it is the (US LHD) passenger side bank that causes this problem, but I'd change both at the same time - they are cheap enough and if one is bad, the other is sure to follow.

I changed bank 1 only as this was advised from the dealer cuz it is giving p0545 which is bank 1 but still am having the same overheated when the car doesnt move for 2 to 3 days

I guess then I'd start by cleaning / verifying the bank 1 EGT connection and changing the bank 2 sensor as well. Use some Stabilant 22 or equivalent on both connections to be doubly safe.

Bentley EGT sensor overheating problem solved
Update!
Oh well...good while it lasted. Overheating error popped up once yesterday so although wrapping it does helps it doesnt resolve it completely. Will replace sensor and wrap it again to prolong service life.
Those with this overheating problem can try this method before splashing out for a new EGT sensor.
I had P0545 - Short to ground and also P0544 - Circuit malfunction for bank 1 which causes limp mode. I know its a common issue as I've already replaced the sensor twice within 3years and couldnt believe I needed a third so soon.
Googled around and found EGT sensors are prone to dry solder joint and bad connections from engine heat. I thought no loss trying to reduce temperatures on the EGT PCB housing so mummified the PCB housing and bracket with temperature resistant Tesa tape. I also sanded the grounding points on bracket and cylinder head cover.
Lo and behold.....no more overheating error over the last 2 weeks of driving.

The items are accessible from the top, do NOT drop the engine/trans unit.
