Radio distortion

So a problem with my radio has surfaced the music plays fines but then all of a sudden it jumps to being loud and distorted. Anyone else had this issue?

Hi Forster.

Yes, I had this a while ago, it only happened once fortunately. I haven't got a clue why it did it, apart from being a temperamental Bentley that is.
I did wonder if the battery was a bit low on charge though.

Les.

Forster,
I suggest you get a battery tender/charger.

If your head unit has been out anytime recently, check the white plug FAKRA type connector on the back, just below the 'curry' colored connector for the GPS. This has the FM signal.

In response to the above maybe I should have been clearer it's not just the radio it's CDs as well. I now have a CTEK so the battery isn't an issue and the music is still distorting. Today it lost sound all together regardless of volume level. Restarting the car does normally bring it back.

I'm suspecting the amplifier is at fault does anyone know where it lives in this car? so I can look for indicator lights/check connections etc

Hello Forster,
You do not state which model you have, but here is a photo of the amp location in my GT, right rear of trunk, also there are no indicator lights on the amp...

Sorry it's a very early one 2004 RHD

I'll take a look later, from that picture it looks like behind the starter battery
