Bentley radio informatent
I own a 2012 Bentley Continental GT. Initially I had a radio that came with the car everything worked but no sound (possibly capacitors or microprocessor needs switching) would come from speaker after purchasing with 25k miles. I changed out the amplifier from the dealer still no sound. I bought the one from a salvage yard and had dealer install it I have sound but with one stipulation it constantly resets.Dealer also stated he didnt have to put a radio code. When I start the radio after installing it constantly resets. It gets as far as the welcome screen (BENTLEY SPlash screen). Lets you switch thru the screen within two minutes it reboots. I do nothing the headunit itself.
I have heard previously with VOLKswagon cars there is SWL fix cd that fixed a RNS 510 headunit which they had similar issue.
anyone else have this issue.
The radio model number is
3w0 035 017 q
rns :3w0 035 017 q
kbt :3d0 907 048
Manufactured 2015

I'm no expert, but I think the salvage yard may have sold you a faulty head unit.
I've had my head unit running on a bench with just power and all the functions that didn't need the car (ride height/ac/etc) work just fine.
The interface for the head unit is self contained, so a constant reboot cycle suggests something wrong with the head units firmware or software.
Are you able to return or exchange the unit? If you can exchange, I would see if they are willing to bench test it for you or show a working unit before removal from the donor vehicle.
One other thing might be to ask the dealer if they can reflash the head unit to the latest firmware for the 2012 or perhaps 2015 MY to see if that fixes the problem.

Yeah I think they sent me one too which I'm pretty sure they will give me my money back. I think your exactly right about the firmware. I need it reflashed.
I found some software called setconfig 2.51 that can do this for $200 might purchase it.
I sent my other one that didnt play sound to a tech dont know if he will able to fix it pretty sire its the microprocessor that has no legs that is faulty.
Sam- whats the problem with yours?

I agree with what Sam stated, maybe a bad unit from the salvage yard, or as I just did a 2008 for a lady from Cali, she purchased a unit off of ebay and it would do just as you describe, so she thought it was defective, she then contacted me and sent me her original 2008 unit while she sent the other in for a refund, BUT what we came to find out was that she had purchased a 2006 (no sat radio) unit to fit in her 2008 with SAT radio, and that 2006 unit would just recycle on and off, whereas her original unit went blank after having an aftermarket RVC because someone messed up the board, they removed the RVC and her unit worked for a short time, but then went to a blank screen, I state all this because you may just have a mis-matched setup whereas you are placing a 2015 unit with of course 2015 software in a 2012, and it does not match with the other components software (2012), see my videos of me bench testing units.
So if you take the unit out and bench test it just by supping 12 volts +/- and let it sit there running to see if in fact it cycles like in the vehicle.

I think Johnny is right on money. The unit I'm suppose have is 3w0 035 017 C. The unit I got from yard is 3w0 035 017 Q. I thought it was revision number not a different model. The unit is too new for the car. The dealer is saying put the old unit in and they found some dvd to put in the unit and that might work. It worked on another car in there shop.

In my particular case, nothing was wrong, but I have the older gen car/head unit and so took it apart to upgrade the screen and add a car pc, following another forum member's instructions.
Hope the dealer's suggestion works for you.

Well this is strange, I just viewed your video and recalled someone with a 2015 having the same problem of freezing and resetting, so I went to my saved you tube videos and found it, BUT in the comments I see comments by a person I believe to be you from 18 hours ago as of Oct 6th 2016 @ 3:20 PM ET, and the comments state
Amar Mokha

Turns out the "Q" model was Euro model.
3W0035007Q DISPLAY AND CONTROL UNIT CGT / CFFS / CGTC EURO so off to resend it back.
The dealership charged me $300 to tell me that neither units wouldn't reprogram. They reporgrammed another unit from another clients "2013" in garage and it worked. I'm in the hunt for 3W0035007C model. I will pay top dollar if anyone knows.
