How do I take a power supply for radar detector dashcam that turns OFF with ignition
Hi
I have recently purchased a Continental GT Mulliner 2006 after looking for a clean, original example for over 6 months (a damn site harder than I expected when I set out on my task).
I want to wire a snooper radar detector and onboard camera that turns ON and OFF with the ignition.
I have routed the cables and wanted to terminate them in the knee roll fuse box, under the steering column (UK side).
Now, I have done this many times for my previous and other current cars, simply piggy back from an ignition "ON" related fuse and job done!
However with the Bentley it seems to me that the fuse box is permantly live - this leaves the devices always ON which is not my aim.
I have tapped into fuse F9 5 amp (TV tuner - which was an option added to my car from new (£600 option...odd in 2006) and fuse F17 10 amp (mini fuse) for infotainment screen using the appropriate "add a fuse" kit which should from my experience only become live when the ignition is turned ON.
Alas, the snooper and camera remain ON permantly via both fuses.
Any information or advice will be very welcome.
I did see a post on the forum (on another subject) where a member added a manual after market switch to the steering column to manually turn off and on a radar detector, this makes me wonder if the fuse box is permanently live.
Thanks in advance
James
