Cigarette lighter issue - always on

new to this forum as i am looking for some guidance / help with an issue i am having with my 05 GT. The cigarette lighters always stay on and draw power even when the car is off...i had my radar detector plugged in and i noticed it was still on after i had left the car and locked it. is this a known issue or is it meant to be like this?

I can't tell you what's correct for the '05 but I just checked my '09 and both the cigar lighter and the glove box outlet are switched off with the ignition.

Interesting...maybe I'll have to ask the dealer next time I take it in for service. Hopefully someone can chime in if they noticed it with their 05

I just checked my 05. Like yours, the cig lighter (rear seat) is powered all the time. I do not have a front seat lighter but would assume it too would be power on all the time.

BTW, even if the lighter has +12v all the time, it does not draw if nothing is plugged in. I use my rear lighter for a phone charger, but I disengage the charger from the lighter if I am not charging the phone.
