Greetings

I am in the process of exploring my infotainment system capabilities and upgrade and modification possibilities.

I am now in the process upgrading the navigation system.

I have a few questions... Hopefully some of u guys can provide feedback.

Is the 2005 cd based navigation able to switch between region cds. For example I have a Swiss car with a European navigation cd, I would like to run a middle-east navigation cd. Is this possible?

According to the dealer this is not possible and I would have to change the whole infotainment system.

On the other hand I belive that I read some where that certain modifications have to be done through programing of the navigation module.

The second question is the navigation software compatibility.

What cd navigation version should I look for, as far as I know it's a bmw cd.

What bmw would work best a 5 or 7 series for example?

Would any other cds other then bmw work?

After reading around online, I belive that I need to attempt a region change to allow a different region nav disk to work.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge on how thats done?

 

Just any update to anyone looking for the information down the road. I got my hands on a bentley oem middle east navigation cd. And it was plug and play, no region change was required. So if anyone needs a eroupe navigation cd or a middle east version send me a pm.

I must say that the maps were really outdated and graphics were as well. I might never use it, but it's nice to have the complete system working.
