2005 GT key replacement
#16
Bought new to me 2005 BCGT Dec 2021.
Went to Holman in Ft Lauderdale last week, get charged $1400 for 2 new keys, tells me they come from the UK and are cut. Need to go to the dealer for reprogram and they can program the current one key I have.
get a call 5 days later telling me the factory cannot find the fréquence for my car and I have to send the one key I have to England for them to learn the frequency and duplicate… that takes 2-3 weeks… other solution is $7k…per dealer…changing receiver on car… Is there an off the reservation méthode? Or should I just vacation to England with the key so at least I can give them **** while they program the new ones???
Johnny do I have options?

Hello @glh ,
I certainly do not want to rub salt in the wound, but the $1400 for 2 new keys is just ridiculous, and the price makes me wonder if this Holmam is an actual authorized Bentley service dealership or not, as the statement of "need to go to the dealer for reprogram" is confusing, do you mean Holman is telling you to bring it to a Bentley dealership other than themselves ?
The new key service kit consisting of 2 master keys is about $650 my cost, $800 list last time I checked, about 6 months ago or so, then $300 to program at Bentley locally, so, let me ask this if I may, did Holman ask for a copy of your driver's license, vehicle registration, and or the title to prove your ownership, as all these are required to send to Bentley in Crewe to get the keys cut by your VIN number, then the keys are programed at the Bentley dealership locally, not reprogrammed as stated, and your existing key does not get programed either, it is just present and used during the procedure of pairing the new keys as to not get removed from the KESSY module's memory, as it would be blocked from use if not present.
As far as the $7000 for the "receiver", again, absurd, the receiver as they are calling it, is the KESSY module, and it's cost is $1158 for the unit in virgin state from Scuderia, as far as finding the frequency, which frequency exactly are they referring to, the KESSY modules in a USA model are 315mhz, whereas ROW is 433mhz, so if Holman actually ordered the keys by VIN, I don't understand how Bentley themselves would have any issue, I kind of get the feeling that the issue is with Holman.
I can either put you in touch with Steve at Bentley of Edison, or I can call him on your behalf and you would have to fax or email documents to me or Steve, that way I could get you my discount and get some straight answers.
Be aware, as I have stated before, the keys are cut by your VIN, and then programed so to say to the KESSY module by hooking your vehicle up to the mothership in Bentley's homeland, it's not really like programming the fobs, it's telling the KESSY module that these fobs are allowed to access this vehicle, just as I have said before, I ordered my 2 master key set by VIN, then I used my Ross-Tech VCDS to pair the keys to the vehicle with the SKC = secret key code, this code resides in the KESSY module's 93C86 eeprom, or the engine ECU'S, this is read with a $70 carprog, but requires pulling the carpet up on the drivers side floor to access the kessy, and the $7000 is also odd, because even if you replaced all the items that need to be all matching, the KESSY, both engine ECU'S, the steering column, you would still need to order 2 new keys, and go through the same procedure as the keys you are ordering now...
Sorry for the long post, it shouldn't be this hard.
Feel free to call me. .

End of the saga goes this way….
Got my money back from the dealer…since they did not have a viable solution. And to be precise this was Hollman the Bentley Dealer in Fort Lauderdale a genuine Bentley dealer. I also figured I was getting tipped a bit but ran out of patience with the $1400… I read here and figured $1100 should be the norm for a dealer and two keys programmed as well as updating my old key.
Anyway I decided to go rogue and called a few locksmith in the FLL area and it’s a small community I was directed to « the guy » for Bentley, we met in a parking lot he works out of a Mercedes van, he showed me a check from Ferrari Ft Lauderdale he had just picked up….apparently he does a lot of their keys… He programmed me and cut a new key that worked perfectly and looked brand new as well as insuring my old single key still worked. For $750. He offered me a chipped cut key with no remote button for $450 but I was already wired to get soaked for $1400 so I got the new key.
there is always a way!
