2005 GT key replacement
I bought my car with only one key, so I knew I was going to have to bite the bullet. I tried http://key.me which claims to be able to duplicate all keys, false advertising, I made it to a kiosk and stuck my key in, it said I needed a locksmith and did I want to set up an appointment (I did not). I also tried my security fob for building entrance, it's supposed to duplicate those, it said it couldn't duplicate secure RFIDs, so I asked (to myself) "then what good are you, Mr. Kiosk?"
I called the dealer, for $795 for two "master" keys and a $300 "programming charge" I can get two more keys. It was unclear whether that would leave me with three, or only two.
Has anyone done this? I really am worried on one level that if my one key goes missing, I'm in a world of hurt so I want a spare. Plus the fob is nasty, cheap scratched up plastic.
I'd love some advice. The dealer needs a copy of my title and five days to order and get the keys. I'm planning on doing it, unless shopping around can help.
Oh and what's a "master key"?

I had to bite the bullet also as I was only given one key. I ordered mines through Bentley in Zionsville Indiana (10/15mins before Indianapolis). I actually gave them all the info over the phone and paid for it and on my next off day went to have it done. Keys come from the UK. From my understanding, you get 2 new keys because the old one has to be wiped out of the kessy (sp) system in the car (I still kept my old key). I think you can only have 2 or 3 keys programmed at a given time (someone please correct me if I’m giving out false info). I called the 2 dealers in Chicago and they cost a little more. Zionsville was almost the same distance and I went to see my family while I was there. Took about an hour to do. And you get an upgrade to the newer fob.

Like TeamJones 1962, I had to have the dealer programme a new key. Even though I have the VAS 5054A computer system, I can't re-programme keys without a DEALER code. The cost here in Canada was about $1,000.00 all in. I had to provide the dealer with both keys and all my ownership papers. It took about an hour. That seemed outrageous until I learned my Son's McLaren key fob cost $2,500.00 YEOW!!

Sorry, this post doesn't make any sense. How was it programmed?

Hello @British ,
1st, Hello @KevinDurant ,
It's not that simple, yes they could cut the key, but then it would NOT start the engine because of lack of programming, more on that below.
2nd, Hello @RichardThomas11 ,
Please give us a little more detail.
Like, was the eBay key-fob used with a blank key blade supplied, or was the key-fob revirginized by either wiping or replacing the PCF 7943A chip in the key-fob, or did the locksmith replace that chip, or did he/she clone the eBay key to you vehicle by removing the inner board of said key-fob and inserting an Audi board, which then would allow the buttons on the key-fob to lock and unlock the doors along with popping the trunk lid, but does not keep the option of walking up to the vehicle with the fob in your pocket and just grab the handle to unlock the door, or was the eBay key-fob new, then the locksmith got the SKC (secret key code) from either your KESSY module or one of the engine ECU's ?
Hello @British ,
A master key is the 3 button key, lock, unlock, and trunk release, but also has a panic button, whereas the other key would be a 2 button valet key with no trunk button, the valet fob cuts out the use of all trunk release options, and the valet key blade will not unlock the glove box, so you would be getting 2 new 3 button master key-fob with the key blades cut by the factory by VIN number, and then programmed at the dealer, be sure to tell them when you hand them your used key, that you want it also programmed to the vehicle, as when the programming is performed all keys pairing is wiped from the KESSY module, then the new keys plus you old one are learned, and before anyone says "Oh, so you can program any old key", no you can NOT, it will take the old key-fob to use again only to the vehicle from which it came....
I purchased the master key service kit having the keys cut by VIN, and did the programming myself with the use of the CarProg to get the SKC from the 93c86 chip in the KESSY module, then used the ross-Tech to program the keys, RT uses the SKC by adding a zero in front of the 4 digit SKC to form the security login.

I want to add my experience with replacement keys for what it's worth.
I had one defective original key, only switchblade key worked despite changing the battery etc.
I had another original key working and a working valet key.
Of course the dealer claimed I would have to buy two new keys and pay for programming (over $1,000 total). It was unclear if the old working keys would still work after programming the new keys.
In the end the two new and the original good key and valet key still work. So, evidently the programming for the new keys did not disrupt the old keys from functioning. My car is a 2013 GTC.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
But, I am not sure as to whom it was unclear to, as the dealership should know 100% the outcome, and said dealership would have or should have warned you to bring all existing keys to them at the time of programming the new keys, this way no existing keys are removed from the KESSY module.

Being that you have a 2010, you have the updated key from 2007-08 iirc, below are some pictures of a 2019 keyfob, my question would be if the 2019 style key would work with the 2010 electronics, KESSY module wise, I will ask Steve at Bentley of Edison Monday.

Out of curiosity and to inform others, would you share the breakdown of the billing, I believe the 2 key service kit to be around $650, that leaves the rest for programming and tax, just curious as to the actual programming fee.

I have 2005 and only came with one key remote. How much does it cost for another set? I’m in vancouver. Is there a cheaper alternative other than the dealership? Also i have the original title in hand but it is not been registered in canada as it’s US car. Will that be an issue?

My 2005 BCGT was imported from the US. The dealer here in Toronto did the programming of the new key. I conclude Country-of-origin is NOT a factor when it comes to key programming.
